Ok, it has been a while, but here we go. Last week Kim did her 2-month MRI right before her last round of monthly chemo, and they found a new tumor. This tumor announced itself to us by taking away 90% of her ability to speak, then we got the MRI and saw why. Last week, we took her to her oncologist in Phoenix, who specializes in her kind of cancer, and after seeing the MRI, he sent us to the ER to get her admitted to the hospital for another brain surgery. This surgery went well; they removed the tumor and placed radioactive tiles in the area to kill off any remaining cancer cells in the region. The problem is, this tumor was attacking the area of her brain that controls language/speech. She can understand everything and every word, but now she can't express language like the rest of us. Imagine a time when you were trying to explain something and couldn't think of a word. That's what she's going through all the time now, for every word. The swelling after the surgery made it worse; it was almost like she had a stroke, but today, she's a lot better. The doctors expect her to improve over the coming days, and with therapy, her speech should come back better than it is now. They also let her come home, which is where she wanted to be, so that's great. As for us, financially we relied on my income for pretty much everything, and that has never been a problem until now. As you can imagine, I was so wrapped up in taking care of her that I forgot to take care of myself or the business. That's now come back to bite us as we are struggling in that regard too. Just being honest here, this whole situation is complete crap, and Kim and I are taking a big bite, but we're not done; we've got fight left in us both.
