NYC Council is considering a bill that would weaken the city's idling enforcement program by adding exemptions and reducing payments to citizen reporters. Our Alex Camarda warns: “That will ultimately result in more idling and more air pollution.” buff.ly/KxQ6Ie9

The really important part is making sure 561–A does not pass. If 561-A passes, there will be no enforcement, and the higher fines will be irrelevant.

We need clean air, not corporate lobbyists' wishlists! That's the message 25 environmental and civic groups delivered yesterday to @SpeakerMenin and the @NYCCouncil--reject Intro. 561-A and stop harming our air. Thanks to @NYLPI @NRDC for their powerful testimony as well!

Huge show of solidarity by clean air advocates at the council hearings of a law that would gut the idling program. It lasted until 4:45 pm ! Really uplifting. @NY_Clean_Air

Twenty-five environmental & civic groups are standing together to oppose the deadly bill Intro. 561-A that @SpeakerMenin is insisting get a hearing this Tuesday. This is the same move @Josh4Jersey is trying in Congress: poison New York's kids for corporate $$$. @AOC @NYCMayor

Ordinary New Yorkers and @NYCWater teamed up to make Amazon pay up for polluting our City. But now @SpeakerMenin wants to force this administration to give polluters a $60-$200 million hand out and free pass to pollute our air. nycair.org/memo
Amazon is worth $2 trillion. But it didn't deign to pay the millions of dollars it racked up in unpaid fines as its’ trucks illegally polluted our air and forced New Yorkers to breathe in their exhaust.
We collected every dollar they owe the people of this city — and will continue to hold them accountable. In New York, corporations are held to the same standard as everyone else.
No company — no matter how large or powerful — is above the law.

If @SpeakerMenin actually cared about New Yorkers’ lives, she wouldn’t be trying to contribute to the thousands of deaths due to air pollution that we suffer in New York City annually with Int 561-A. What won’t she do for truck lobbyist $$? #CrocodileTears nycair.org/memo
My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of the victim killed in today’s senseless shooting at the 7th Avenue/53rd Street subway station in Midtown. I am outraged by this horrific act of violence. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe on our subways, and I know the NYPD will move swiftly to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

Twenty-four environmental & civic groups agree: Intro. 561-A is a deadly threat to New York's air quality. nycair.org/memo But @SpeakerMenin is pushing this industry-backed bill (with zero cosponsors) towards hearing on Tuesday. @OsseChi @tiffany_caban @CMAlexaAviles

This bill literally has a provision to ban members of the public from complaining about air pollution.

This is rich, coming from you. You are ignoring the ENTIRE COMMUNITY that is telling you not to sideline the environmental whistleblowers.
