After the Southport stabbings, imam Adam Kelwick took burgers and chips to a crowd outside his Liverpool mosque and ended up hugging one of them. Since then he’s taken protesters’ families and Muslim families on the same coach trips.
Real connections between people beat hate.

This is Joel. He used be an airline pilot. First he gave up flying for his holidays but kept flying planes. Eventually, he couldn't deny the damage the aviation industry is causing anymore, so he quit his job.
If Joel can give up flying, so can you.

BREAKING: Amazon deforestation has fallen to its lowest levels since records began.
If Lula retains the presidency, the Amazon could be saved.

Anyone wondering how to build better democracy in @TheGreenParty or more widely should read this.

By 2020, trust in Taiwan’s government had climbed to over 70%. How did they do it?
vTaiwan, a virtual platform for citizens’ assemblies, allowed everyone to get involved in decision making and gamified the process of finding consensus.

Even seasoned climate activists don't know about the very near term (1.5-2 degrees warming) tipping point risks of the AMOC collapse for Europe and the rest of the world. This fact is terrifying.

Speaking tomorrow at New Scientist Live with Profs Behrens & Seddon.
The Paris climate challenge is not a matter of urgency, but of emergency. Urgency seeks to accelerate change; emergency demands a fundamentally different policy & technology agenda.

It's most important policy set by @TheGreenParty conference.
While Labour suggest stocking up on tins, Greens would start a Strategic Food Reserve - like all sensible governments. Plus fair minimum farmgate prices and the option of temporary price caps on essentials in a crisis.

If you join @TheGreenParty, you can propose a new policy. If enough members support your motion, it will be debated at conference. If conference votes for it, it becomes Green Party policy.
It's not a perfect system but it's democratic, unlike other political parties.

If Lula wins the Brazilian election, the Amazon might survive.
If Bolsonaro wins, it’s finished.

"RAF" Fairford is actually a USAF base. The US Airforce currently operates from 12 main bases and facilities officially titled under the RAF across the UK. Operational bases include Lakenheath & Mildenhall, the remainder are Intel bases- making England the prime target in Europe.

‘Not acting on climate change means a certain World War in the lifetime of anybody born from now on.’
Scientists explain that climate change is a far bigger threat than governments are telling you:

While Andy Burnham dithers, @ZackPolanski has been clear - @TheGreenParty would reverse the creeping privatisation of the NHS, kick Palantir out - and abolish the undemocratic House of Lords.

The privatization of water, rail and energy firms has cost the British public dearly. @TheGreenParty would bring these utilities back into public hands. Essential services run for people rather than shareholders. It used to be normal; it can be again.

Poignant letters from a worried teen to climate prisoners.

Andy Burnham has promised a break with neoliberalism.
The more I learn about Camden Labour’s record in recent years, and their candidate in this by-election’s record, the more ridiculous that sounds.
The weirdest thing? The Greens aren’t shouting about it. Camden is ground zero for private development, asset managers and outsourcing when it comes to London authorities. Even lots of potential Green voters seem unaware of precisely how bad it is.
LOTS of votes still to win.

Margaret Thatcher's Right to Buy scheme saw over two million council homes leak into the private sector. Scotland and Wales have already put a stop to this. @TheGreenParty would do the same in England, as well as building 150,000 new social homes a year.

If there's anyone left to write the history of the 21st century, they will wonder at why this atrocity was allowed to continue for so long.
Just 178 big oil, gas and cement companies have caused most global heating, releasing over 1.5 trillion tons of CO2 equivalent since 1854, scientists report. Over half has been emitted since 1986, when the danger to the climate was already well known.

Berlin has them. Vienna has them. So why can't we have rent controls in the UK?
@TheGreenParty would allow local authorities to cap rents. There's nothing radical about this - affordable housing is a human right.
