"Every child wedding needs a cook, a registrar, an imam or priest, a guest list & a few neighbours who look away. Any of them can stop it. Teachers know which girl stopped coming to class. Local officials know which family started asking about a match." thefinancialexpress.com.bd/v…

27 November is now a global day to #EndChildMarriage. A welcome step. But laws and awareness are not enough. We must change the conditions that make marriage a way of navigating risk and insecurity. Marriage should never be the price a girl pays for survival. #ClimateBrides
#SouthAsia is at the centre of a new global study of urban heat risk. Four of the 10 highest-risk cities are in the region: Hyderabad, Karachi and Faisalabad in Pakistan, and Madurai in India. Study: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
Key finding: Heat risk is not just about temperature. It's shaped by vulnerability & the capacity to cope, including income, age, cooling access, electricity costs & urban vegetation. Over 95% of cities in the highest-risk decile are in South & Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa.
The heat is only part of the story. The other part is who has the means to live safely through it. For children, especially the youngest, that difference can be critical. Follow @ClimateBrides to learn more.

Climate change is often reported through records and extremes: the hottest year, the strongest storm, the deepest drought. But what happens when we shift the focus from the climate itself to the children growing up within it?

We spent some time reading @UNICEF Children's Climate Risk Report 2026. Beyond the headline figures, it offers a powerful reminder that climate change is not only an environmental story. It is also a story about childhood, wellbeing & the futures being shaped today. ☀️♨️

Over the coming weeks, we'll share findings that stayed with us: from climate exposure across #SouthAsia to questions of vulnerability, food security, displacement and child protection.
The numbers matter. So do the stories behind them.

1/6 🔊 #ChildMarriage made headlines across South Asia this month. But these weren't just isolated stories. Together, they reveal how child marriage is being governed, contested and transformed through law, policy, public mobilisation and politics across the region. 🧵
6/6 The lesson? Ending child marriage is not only about laws. It depends on enforcement, age verification, social norms and political commitment.
