My wife and I have been members of this church for 25 years and are extremely proud of its devotion to the teachings of Jesus and its collective impact on the KC metro area and internationally. The remarks made earlier this week by JD Vance were shameful and hateful and should be condemned! The statement below was provided by our church leaders - please read and understand the important work of this church, its Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton, and its congregation. "Recent public political statements have disparaged and mischaracterized Resurrection and the work of our Senior Pastor over the past 36 years. The church takes no position on candidates for o2ice. However, we do call upon political action committees, politicians, and each of us—especially those who profess to share a common faith—to speak accurately about the church and its ministries. To support this, Church Council, the elected governing body representing the church’s membership, developed this message to share. We are Resurrection, a United Methodist Church We are a congregation of people united in our commitment to knowing, loving and serving God. As United Methodists we are part of a worldwide connection of more than 12 million members in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. Together, we share a legacy of living as disciples of Jesus Christ, sharing God's love in what we say and how we serve our neighbors. For those who are interested or may not be familiar with our church, there are five things to know about Resurrection. We are: • Passionate about following Jesus • Committed to serving our city • Serious about welcoming everyone • A church for people with questions • A place where hope is found Since the church launched in 1990 under the leadership of our Senior Pastor Adam Hamilton, Resurrection’s foundational commitments have been to love God, follow Jesus, love others and serve our community and world. We bear witness to the faithfulness and fruitfulness of Adam’s ministry in his role as our Senior Pastor for more than three decades. At Resurrection, tens of thousands of people have come together, united in faith, and inspired by Adam’s example to serve God by loving and caring for our neighbors. Loving our neighbors means treating all people with kindness and respect, as well as giving generously to serve those in need. In 2025 alone, our congregation fed more than 45,000 people in need, distributed nearly 60,000 children’s books, held blood drives, led foster care support programs, and built a2ordable housing. Over the years, the church has funded and deployed a mobile dental clinic, a mobile food pantry, and donated over a hundred million dollars to causes across the globe to support access to clean drinking water, education, and healthy meals for all. This fall, the church is launching our biennial kindness campaign, Love One Another, based on John 13:34: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This passage invites the entire community to seek the well-being of our neighbors. In this time of polarization and heightened rhetoric, we will amplify the call to stand united and express love and compassion in tangible ways. We believe God has called us to live this way. We invite everyone to join us for worship any weekend, explore the Gospel through our Bible studies and classes, participate in our missional work, experience the support of our counseling ministry and ministry to families with a loved one with special needs, or find healing in a support or recovery group. We would love to welcome you to Resurrection. You can learn more about Resurrection, our core values and the impact we are making in the community on our website here."

As a Christian who loves God and my country, I am infuriated to see Trump attempt to exploit love of God to ruin my country. I recognize he doesn’t mean or understand half of the things he says, but it still infuriates me.
