Awesome @ClemsonCAFLS seminar today by Dr. Oten (1/2 of @NCForestHealth) about #invasivespecies - probably the most complete breakdown of the emerald ash borer situation in the Southeast I’ve heard. Plus, there were gifs and memes so everybody wins.

The #foresthealth pest southern pine beetle (Dendroctonus frontalis) is now in MAINE. Not so southern anymore, is it? The big question now is why - natural range expansion, #climatechange, a combination? The answer is probably yes.
Check out yesterday's Maine Public Radio piece about the northward range expansion of the "Southern" pine beetle, recently discovered by PhD student @Kanaskie_MSc in ME and NH. mainepublic.org/environment-… @Kanaskie_MSc @FHReports @ForestHealthOrg @kasson_wvu @COLSA_UNH @SavePines

Could we have picked a hotter day to measure how the #invasivespecies and #foresthealth pest Callery pear responds to #prescribedfire? Probably not, but @ClemsonForest, @UGAWarnell’s David Clabo and I sweated it out. – at Milledgeville, GA
