Million-dollar donors are pouring money into campaigns across the political spectrum, raising an old question: How much influence should the donor class have over our elections?

Utah has already called on Congress to restore states’ authority to address money in politics. This Constitution Day, it’s a reminder that the rules of our elections should be decided by voters and elected representatives.

9/11 changed the world—and my family. My son Joe felt called to serve. I felt pride & fear. We were fortunate—he came home from Iraq & Afghanistan. On this 25th anniversary, let's remember those we lost, who served & a generation whose lives were changed. nytimes.com/2026/09/10/us/th…

Just 50 people have already contributed more than $1.6 billion to the 2026 midterm elections. This spending is legal — but should the donor class and elite interests have this much power to influence our elections?

I think Democrats are overly dismissive of the Republican grassroots anger at money in politics, and are missing the new moment to do something about Citizens United and Buckley. Tom Barrett, yes that Tom Barrett, introduced a bill a few months ago to overturn Buckley and Citizens United. Every swing district Republican should be asked if they support it becuase they are HEARING IT from their constituents.

It is possible to overturn the terrible onslaught of corruption decisions, from Buckley to Citizens United to McCutcheon to today. I like ALL of the strategies, honestly, but my current focus is on American Promise, because they've been able to get red and blue states to sign on. They are working on an Amendment which would just return power to the people and the states and federal government to govern their own elections. americanpromise.net/?gad_sou…

The Supreme Court just ruled in NRSC v. FEC. Debate over the decision will continue, but the bigger question remains: Who should set the rules for money in our elections? Too often, those rules are decided by the federal courts. They should be set closer to We the People—through our elected representatives. 👉 bit.ly/4oVl1vZ
