wow laos - wafers, so presumably manufacturing into panels for export
Clean tech is booming!
One example of this is China's clean tech exports... reaching $32 billion in September 2026...
The Strait of Hormuz runs 2 ways... a record 2.6GW of solar panels were exported from China to Saudi Arabia in September☀️
Gas power plants are having a laugh... 😠
The biggest cost of the GB wind constraint isn't turning down the wind in Scotland. It's turning up the gas power plants to replace them in England.
How to prevent this gaming and profiteering?
JUST RELEASED FROM THE IEA:
Their first-ever #Electrification report
They conclude it's cost-effective for 33% electrification rate today, based on 2025 technology costs + 2025 energy prices.
a. that's really high!
b. imagine what it'd be at today's oil+gas prices!?!?

For utility, yes, here you, we didn't have room for this graphic in the report;)
It's from @GlobalEnergyMon data here:

Here is the full report out today
And of course we also published the dataset here #opendata
Thanks so much to Joel Nana from African Tech Futures Lab, it was a pleasure writing this with you.☺️

The exports of solar **panels** from China to Africa is pretty robust data, but the same is NOT true of cells and wafer exports.
Whatever you do, don't look at Chinese cells+wafer exports to Africa and think they are being manufactured into panels;)
The smaller manufacturing markets are also increasing.
And these ARE predominately for African installations.
It's rising in line with Africa's solar growth - so the proportion of Africa's solar panels made in Africa stays at 6%. Which still leaves 94% made in China.
