🇨🇺 Solidarity is not a crime, the inhumane U.S. blockade on Cuba is. The blockade is a silent genocide, a decades-long war designed by the U.S. government. It is collective punishment aimed at inflicting maximum damage on the island, its people, and their everyday lives. Last month, during UN General Assembly week, hundreds of peace activists, progressive leaders, and artists filled the Schomburg Center in Harlem for Voices for Peace: Cuba Is Not A Threat. We stood with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and a powerful lineup of speakers — including Rosemari Mealy (former Black Panther Party member), Rachel Domond (ANSWER Coalition), Dailyn Briñas (Cubans4Cuba), and NYC Council Member Alexa Avilés — to demand an end to the U.S. blockade and its unending threats against Cuban sovereignty. Together, we declared: the blockade must end. Let Cuba live. Solidarity is not a crime the blockade is!

ICE shot someone in the Bronx today. I took to the streets with fellow New Yorkers to demand justice for all victims of ICE terror. Abolish ICE and get every ICE agent out of our communities. Full amnesty and legal status for all immigrants, now. Defund ICE’s billion-dollar budget. Fully fund healthcare, housing, and education.

The Trump administration is persecuting people and organizations for promoting critical thought, raising questions, and exposing the criminal nature of this administration and the billionaires it serves. History shows us that when authoritarian governments come for one, they come for all- no one is safe! Now is not the time to retreat from struggle. It is the time to stand in solidarity. Our movement is growing- that’s what they fear and why they are attacking us. Follow and support @peoplesforumnyc @btnewsroom @thetricontinental Donate towards their legal defense. Remember we are stronger when we stand together.

Cuba, has once again, received the solidarity of the international community at the UN. The world voted decisively to include the urgent need to end the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial embargo against Cuba on the UN agenda. Despite intense pressure and threats from Trump and Rubio camp, the vote was clear: Cuba is not alone! 136 votes in favor, 9 against, and 30 abstentions, UN member states rejected U.S. efforts to block discussion of one of the longest running and most universally condemned unilateral sanction regimes in history. As the General Assembly takes up this debate, the international community must continue to show its solidarity in ways that allow Cuba to live. End the blockade, now!

To live and experience the US with eyes wide open and historical accuracy, is to know the tale of two nations. One which will celebrate 250 years of “freedom” to expand, extract, exploit and empire building. The Other, who has experienced invasion, genocide, enslavement. One that has insisted on erasing the Other. The Other that has stubbornly refused to be erased. The tension of these two nations, whose interests are so deeply opposed, lives in underfunded schools while there is unending funding to put trillions into war; in the expansion of mass incarceration targeting black and brown people while making people’s misery profitable; in the expansion of surveillance, detention centers and the criminalization of dissent, all while speaking about freedom. It lives in the cages holding hundreds of thousands of children while speaking about “family values.” In the bombs destroying generations. In the sanctions that starve and kill people while claiming “in God we trust.” There is the tale of two nations: of the slave owners and the enslaved. The haves, and that of the have nots. Two very different experiences. One salutes and honors empire. The Other is still building people’s history daily through survival and struggle. The Other strives to make true the claims of freedom, democracy and moral values that one has been incapable of upholding.
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S., we remember that no slave was freed by the Declaration of Independence. On July 5, 1852, Frederick Douglass delivered his famous “What to the American slave is your Fourth of July?” speech in Rochester, NY. “I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim.” #2AmericasAt250

End the sanctions. That is THE relief needed. Venezuela has the right to sovereignty and developing w/o being subjected to US intervention of any sort. Thinking of all those impacted by the earthquake. And the many suffering the results of living under sanctions.
"All countries should be free to be able to develop their infrastructure and not be constrained because the U.S. does not allow them to import anything with U.S. parts." BREAKING: The Trump administration had appealed to the Supreme Court after district courts earlier this year delayed the end of humanitarian protections for around 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians living in the US. They now face deportation in the wake of the Court's 6-3 ruling, handed down Thursday, which would allow Trump to end their Temporary Protected Status (TPS). SCOTUS similarly allowed the Trump administration to move forward with ending TPS protections for roughly 350,000 Venezuelans in May 2025 by lifting a lower-court injunction.

Internationally, nations and people have recognized the U.S.'s chronic addiction to war. The blockade is a symptom of the deep sickness that germinates in the very being of the morally bankrupt and warmongering U.S. billionaire class. They salivate at the idea of world dominance and exploitation for profit. What the US has been doing to Cuba for over six decades, and what the Trump administration is doing, with Rubio at the helm, is not about "democracy" or "freedom." Those words are used as covers for a long-standing campaign toward recolonization the only way colonial powers know how: through violence! Sanctions are an act of war! Sanctions kill! Let Cuba Live!

[focus on what the people have done!]The sweeping victory of DSA from DC to NY isn't just a signal. It is a verdict. People want change. As I said after the success of Mamdani’s campaign in NYC, it's people’s moods, aspirations, refusal to settle that's driving this sea change. People are not buying the fear mongering, not caving to the smears, not bowing to the open hatred and racism. People are starting to bet on themselves. Specially young people. They are proving: socialism isn't the boogeyman. It is the only path forward. So what comes next? That's on us. On the organizers, the people committed to building a movement, people committed to building socialism. We are the ones who deepen this sentiment and expand it towards building people power and a socialist future. We must know that voting alone won't save us. Organized struggle, an independent socialist movement- it’s not just possible. It's urgently necessary. And it's the only road to the real transformation of society.

Colombian youth flooded the streets of Bogota Sunday night in support of presidential candidate Ivan Cepeda. The preliminary count places the far-right, Trump-backed Abelardo de la Espriella in first place at 49.66% of the votes and the progressive Cepeda at 48.7%. In a speech to his supporters Sunday night, Cepeda said the preliminary vote count was “not official nor binding” and vowed to challenge results from over 30,000 voting stations. Throughout the leadup to Sunday’s runoff election, Cepeda supporters accused the other side of fraud, vote-buying, intimidation, and foreign interference.

Trump should have stayed his ass away from NY… Knicks were doing just fine w/o all that warmongering energy.
“The people need to be at this game, and it’s turned into a luxury event.” Trump is in New York City for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and the area around Madison Square Garden where fans would normally watch the game is on security lockdown. BT talked to Knicks fans who had a message for the president: “Stay in DC, bro.”
