Every legal chess position has, on average, more than 30 possible moves. After just a few turns, the number of possible games exceeds the number of atoms in the observable universe. No player (Not even Magnus Carlsen or Bobby Fischer) and not even the strongest chess engine tries to evaluate every possibility. They consider only the relevant options: Success comes from exploring the right possibilities while eliminating those that don't matter. That's a familiar challenge in quantum computing. Many real-world problems, from portfolio optimization to logistics and drug discovery, contain an overwhelming number of possible solutions. The goal isn't brute force. It's finding smarter ways to navigate an enormous search space. Chess has spent centuries teaching us a simple lesson: The best strategy isn't to consider everything It's knowing where to look.
