A week ago today I attended #TheLastPhotograph premier at #TIFF. It was awesome to catch up with old friends again & meet some new ones. TLP is an incredible piece of #PowerfulArt, taking a brutal & affecting look at the perpetual cycles of eye-for-an-eye violence in our world…

I happened to be in the same lobby as Zack Snyder and his daughter as we all headed into the theater for the #TIFF26 premiere of his movie #TheLastPhotograph
I wanted to ask for a photo but hesitated, not wanting to intrude on their happy moment. Instead, I did what Joe Wallace would have done, I captured it candidly, and it turned out beautifully.
Here is that picture and my spoiler-free review picksnpeeks.com/zack-snyders…
Zack Snyder says a 'long gone' Warner Bros executive apologized & told him he was right about everything.
"I won’t say who it was, he said to me, “You know...I’ve got to tell you one thing: You were right about everything...“We were fighting you, & in the end you were right.”

Zack Snyder rethinks his conception of images in THE LAST PHOTOGRAPH

Man I really want to watch #TheLastPhotograph
Zack Snyder confronts the instant backlash to his new movie "The Last Photograph," including accusations of misogyny and excessive violence towards women:
"The amount of energy and the amount of vitriol I find really incredible. 'I want to kill Zack Snyder.' 'Zack Snyder is a fascist.' 'Zack Snyder is a homophobe'... [The movie] is 'homoerotic' and 'transphobic' and 'fascist' and all these things... I mean, I don’t know. First of all, I would argue that the violence toward women and men is equal and that nobody is spared — men, women, children, everybody. The justice that’s doled out in the movie is in the same way that a hurricane doles out justice. To try and superimpose morality over it and want the violence to mean something — the meaning is that violence doesn’t work and doesn’t get anything done.
We’re all human. I guess in my feed, and this is just what my algorithm shows me, it’s a conversation. Even though I think it started out, 'Zack Snyder sucks!' 'F*ck him!' 'You fascist!' What happens now is, 'You guys are fucking crazy. This is just a movie. Calm down.'"

I LOVE this slight review drop by the writer of TIFF.
The Last Photograph accrues an air of myth as it proceeds. Haunting flashbacks punctuate the present-tense voyage through a rich culture that Ethan barely comprehends. While the film’s imagery is characteristically rapturous, its focus on a single character creates a space for psychological gravitas of a kind only hinted at in Snyder's more maximalist visions. This is a Dante-esque road movie where the journey is just as internal as it is external.
The Last Photograph
Synopsis: Retired DEA agent Ethan Black (Martin) travels to South America in search of his missing nephew and niece, and to avenge the slaying of his brother, a diplomat, and sister-in-law. He is joined by Joe Wallace (Fee), a world-weary, drug-addicted conflict photographer who claims to have witnessed the kidnapping and brutal murder. As the pair journey deeper into a hostile, alpine landscape, unresolved events from Ethan’s troubled past burgeon in his psyche — and muddy his motivations for taking on this precarious mission.
