The killing and violence Israel is responsible for are escalating across the West Bank. But the Elimination Project that Israel is carrying out goes far beyond that. As our head of field research Kareem Jubran explains, it is about dismantling the conditions that allow Palestinians to exist as a people, a society and a collective in their homeland.
The Elimination Project is an ongoing process that affects every aspect of life. It involves demolishing homes, expelling communities, taking over land and water sources, destroying livelihoods and suppressing political and social organizing. Israel prevents people from getting to work, going to school or harvesting olives on their own land. Violence by soldiers and settler militias keeps millions of Palestinians in a constant state of fear, turning even simple everyday activities into potential threats to their lives and physical safety.
This is the Elimination Project: a set of mechanisms working together to push Palestinians off their land and dismantle their ability to live together as an independent society, with their own institutions, identity, rights and future. At the same time, Israel is expanding and deepening its control and Jewish presence across the West Bank.
How do all these mechanisms work together? Watch our short film about the Elimination Project that Israel is carrying out in the West Bank >> btselem.org/the_elimination_…

Israel detains, arrests, beats up, & sometimes even kills Palestinian olive pickers who are the real owners of the land. It also abuses people who come to harvest in solidarity & to provide protection. The real Israeli criminals/terrorist-settlers are aided & abetted by the army & government,
I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee).
But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention. For harvesting olives. They should all be released immediately.
To be clear: Palestinians face far worse consequences every day. These detentions by the IDF are one more attempt to undermine Palestinians’ right to harvest their olive groves, travel on their roads, and live in their homes. Yet one more element of escalating, and very clearly state-sponsored ethnic cleansing.
We’ll update on their status as soon as we hear.

Once again, Israel’s apartheid system is turning the olive harvest into a season of horror for Palestinian families across the occupied West Bank. State-driven attacks by settlers on farmers that damage, destroy and steal crops, combined with Israeli military restrictions on access to groves, are causing immense suffering and economic loss for Palestinians.

The human rights movement doesn’t pick and choose who has rights. We won’t refrain from calling for justice, whether the suspected perpetrator sits in Tehran, Washington D.C., or anywhere else. Secretary Rubio knows that. So when he calls a human rights organization a fraud for doing its job, that’s just his playbook for avoiding accountability.

I’m told Trump was embarrassed by the coverage of Zacharia’s briefing and when he polled other aides about her, Zacharia had few allies willing to stand up for her or defend her performance. The main reason he rushed to select her after growing irritated with how long the process was taking to replace Karoline Leavitt was because he wanted more people defending him on TV. When she failed to do so in a sufficient way with Sean Hannity, Trump said he knew she needed to go.

The olive harvest season in Palestine has always been a joyful occasion of community celebration & communion with nature, in addition to being a major source of income & national wealth.
With the Israeli Jewish terror in the West Bank, the uprooting & burning of trees, the theft of the olive crops, & the violence against our olive pickers, this season has turned it into one of fear, pain, deprivation & total uncertainty.
