It is important to note that both Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa are not active members of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB). While Nnamdi Kanu was the acclaimed founder and former leader of IPOB, his office(s) has been suspended indefinitely by the governing body of IPOB, the Directorate of State, for violating IPOB’s code of conduct. Simon Ekpa on the other hand, a self-acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi, has never been a member of IPOB and has never taken the IPOB oath of allegiance. His activities, including the terrorism he is jailed for, cannot be associated to IPOB. His followers and the criminals he was using wreck havoc in the south East before his arrest and imprisonment, are not members of IPOB nor ESN. Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers who are very much in contact with Simon Ekpa and served as a broker between him and Nnamdi Kanu should be held accountable for their conduct. Their legal representation is solely for Nnamdi Kanu and not IPOB, as Nnamdi Kanu has been suspended from the movement. As an IPOB member under oath, and so as my other colleagues, we abhor criminality under any guise, no matter who is involved. All members of IPOB who publicly associated themselves with Simon Ekpa’s crimes have all been suspended and removed from the organization by the Directorate of State headed by mazi Chika Edoziem the HDOS-IPOB. Wether Nnamdi Kanu, his siblings, lawyers or anyone close to them chose to support, inherit and continue the kîllings and mayhem that Simon Ekpa unleashed against innocent indigenes of the south east, let their actions be attributed to them and not on IPOB. We have not come to build a cult for profiteering using the blood and suffering of innocent civilians, rather we have only come to emancipate our people from the suffering they’re already living in under the Islamic regime of the Nigerian government.
