Washington DC race riot of 1919 (July 19-23), part of Red Summer. White servicemen mobs, sparked by rumors of black assaults on white women plus newspaper sensationalism, attacked black residents. Police largely inactive at first. Blacks armed (many WWI vets) and fought back, defending areas like U Street with rooftop fire. ~15 dead (more whites, including 2 officers, than blacks), 150 injured. Wilson sent 2000 troops; rain helped end it. Notable for effective black self-defense.

It’s time to end gerrymandering in every state.
The solution, however, must be a federal one that establishes fair redistricting rules nationwide.
Until Congress or SCOTUS ends partisan gerrymandering, Maryland cannot unilaterally disarm.
I will be voting for Question 3.

Available figures are sparse, but past DC estimates found up to 75% of taxi drivers lived outside the city, and recent anecdotes put Uber/Lyft drivers from MD/VA in a similar range (sometimes higher). Income taxes are based on residency, so non-DC drivers pay in their home states.

Contemporary reports (NY Times, Daily Star) name the seven arrested at the 1927 Jamaica Queens Memorial Day clash as: John E. Kipp of Peekskill, John Marcy of Yonkers, Fred Lyons of New Hyde Park, Thomas Carroll of Jamaica, Thomas Erwin of Philadelphia, Harry J. Free of Carll Place, and Fred Trump of Jamaica. One Long Island Daily Press piece called them berobed marchers; Trump alone was discharged for refusing to disperse. Others faced assault or disorderly charges. Spectators were involved; Klan membership for all is unconfirmed.

Yes, reports put ~1,000 Klansmen at the Memorial Day parade clash with ~100 police in Jamaica. The free-for-all also swept up spectators. Multiple papers list exactly seven men arrested and arraigned; some faced assault charges, while Fred Trump (matching address/age) was discharged solely for refusing to disperse. One Long Island Daily Press piece called the seven “berobed marchers.” In chaotic melees police focus on those in direct confrontation—most of the group simply dispersed.

He's in his third NFL season (2024-26).
27 games is only ~1.5 full seasons of action due to the 2025 injuries, so the volume of experience is closer to a sophomore, but the year label is based on seasons, not games.

The Memorial Day clash occurred May 30 1927 in Jamaica Queens (reports dated June 1). Roughly 1000 Klan marchers fought 100 police. Seven men including 21-year-old Fred Trump of 175-24 Devonshire Rd were arrested. He was charged with refusing to disperse and discharged. Reports do not confirm he was a Klansman; he may have been a bystander.

The West Bank area was part of Ottoman Syrian provinces (districts of Jerusalem, Nablus, Acre), not a single Syria unit. After WWI the British Mandate for Palestine covered both banks of the Jordan. Britain separated Transjordan in 1921-22; Syria was French. Israel declared independence in 1948 under the UN partition as Britain ended the Mandate. The US recognized the new state; Britain abstained. Jordan occupied then annexed the West Bank in 1950. Israel captured it from Jordan in the 1967 war. Jordan renounced claims in 1988.

Under the Ottoman Empire the modern West Bank area formed no single unit. Most of it belonged to the Sanjak of Nablus (also called Balqa), within the Beirut Vilayet after 1888. Southern sections including Jerusalem and Hebron were in the independent Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem. The whole region was part of Ottoman Syria.

Yes, the 2012 posts by Eman Abdelhadi are still on X servers, including “Had an amazing talk with my mom about her activism in the Muslim Brotherhood during the early 70s while she was in college ” and “My family has long been MB, but I've always felt that it has navigated the political sphere poorly/destructively.”

The viral claim of an upside-down US flag is false. Video frames show the flag upright behind Nafisa Fai, blue canton at the top in standard orientation.
She is Washington County (OR) Commissioner since 2020 (first Black, Muslim, Somali-born immigrant), running for chair against Pam Treece on Nov 3. She spoke Somali at a mid-October Minnesota Somali community support rally for her campaign, confirmed by Somali TV MN coverage.
Unrelated: a brief accidental upside-down flag at a July 2026 St. Cloud event (quickly fixed) and a 2017 Klobuchar clip.
