As a coach, what's the one thing you were taught as absolute gospel when you were younger that you now teach differently?
Mine is inside foot catch on jumpers. I'm now 100% a left foot down guy for RH shooters and right foot down for LH shooters.

Just because you’re in the gym doesn’t mean you’re getting better.
Workout quality is more important than quantity.

Don’t say you don’t have time for extra practice, workouts, shooting, lifting, etc. when you’re spending hours a day on social media. Put the phone down & go prepare! You’ll be surprised at how much more you can accomplish by spending some of that time getting better. Priorities!

What is your identity as a player? Are you a competitor who won’t give up? Anybody who watches you play, even for one minute, should say, “Man, that kid competes!” Competing is a prerequisite for good things to follow, but more importantly, it’s essential for your team’s success!

If you think other people are your competition, you couldn’t be more wrong. Your competition is your ego, your bad decisions, old grudges, new excuses, procrastination, lack of knowledge & imagination, sleep habits & an unhealthy diet. Athletes: you HAVE to compete against those!

Dear WBB Players,
Your value on a team isn’t limited to scoring. The game needs rebounders, great passers, screeners, a hype woman, someone to keep the team calm during chaos, a defender! The list goes on.
Don’t shy away from doing the little things that make a difference!

Get in where you fit in. At the college level the more niches you can fill the more opportunity you will find for playing time. October practices are about figuring out who can play TOGETHER & who can play a different position in a pinch! Be adaptable.

If you can't execute in practice
you won't execute on game day.
If you're not confident in practice
you won't be confident on game day.
If you're not focused in practice
you won't be focused on game day.
The habits you cultivate in practice
will show up on game day.
