hes right and honestly most of it is already shipped, frontier LLMs plus a half-decent agentic scaffold with tool use, MCP and some context engineering already close most white-collar ops loops end to end at acceptable pass@k. the capability overhang is just bottlenecked on deployment, integration and change management. and once the RSI flywheel actually spins up (synthetic data gen, self-written evals, automated harness optimization, RLVR on verifiable rewards, distillation into the next gen, new architectures past vanilla transformers), it compounds. every cycle widens OOD generalization and shrinks the human-in-the-loop surface area
the funny part is everyone celebrating the blue-collar renaissance with electricians, datacenter buildouts, substations, PPAs and interconnect queues doesnt get that this is literally the capex phase. youre pouring concrete for gigawatt clusters full of GB300 NVL72 racks that pretrain the embodied foundation models, which then generalize to your physical ops loop. same scaling laws, same RL on real-world trajectories, just with actuators and a VLA head bolted on. so blue collar isnt the safe haven, its the next held-out eval set
the timeline compresses because its all one stack. the same world models doing next-frame video prediction in latent space are the policy priors for robotics. every humanoid deployed in a warehouse is a data flywheel feeding teleop traces, cross-embodiment datasets and sim2real transfer with domain randomization back into the pretraining mix. so the physical ops loop gets solved the way coding got solved: first copilot, then agent, then fully autonomous with a human rubber-stamping the diff in code review
people keep anchoring on current SOTA like its a fixed point, when the actual variable is the first derivative, honestly the second. cost per task is collapsing on a log curve, test-time compute keeps scaling, and inference $/Mtok drops every quarter. so the real question is NOT whether your job is automatable. its whether your job generates enough novel, high-entropy signal to stay out of distribution, and for most ops roles, white or blue collar, the honest answer is NO
if you think thats doom posting, look at the lab unit economics. theyre not selling software, theyre selling labor. the TAM was never SaaS, its global payroll, tens of trillions a year in comp. every hundred-billion-dollar compute deal only pencils out on a DCF if a real chunk of that opex line converts into API calls. thats not a side effect, thats the thesis priced into the cap table. per-seat pricing is the on-ramp, per-task and per-outcome pricing is the destination. the moment an agent gets billed per ticket closed, its not competing with your tooling budget anymore, its competing with your fully loaded hourly rate. it doesnt need to beat you on quality, it just needs a lower cost per unit of output at an acceptable error rate. inference COGS go down every quarter, and you dont
meanwhile youre feeding it. every correction, every edited draft, every workflow you automate to save time is a labeled preference pair for the next post-training run. you are the reward model. youre doing RLHF on your own replacement for free and calling it productivity
and it wont look like a RIF wave, itll look like a hiring freeze. junior reqs get closed first, attrition doesnt get backfilled, so theres no headline, just a career ladder with the bottom rungs quietly sawed off. then one quarter the internal eval saturates, the earnings call says operational efficiency and margin expansion, and thats the announcement. unemployment data is a lagging indicator by design. the training run that ended your job hit its final checkpoint months before BLS counted you. so if youre waiting for proof, youre already in the dataset
and if you think they dont train on your data, read the ToS again, then read the DPA, then read them both again in six months when they quietly push an update. the incentive structure doesnt care about anyones good intentions. data is the moat. high-quality human traces of real long-horizon work are the scarcest input in the entire stack, scarcer than tokens and scarcer than H100-hours. when the whole industry is racing with hundreds of billions on the line, nobody leaves the scarcest resource on the table out of politeness. its opt-out by default, to improve our services buried in clause 14, and enterprise telemetry, usage analytics and de-identified aggregated signals that arent technically training data until someone redefines the word
even when your exact chats are off-limits, your workflow isnt. the shape of your job, your tool-call graph, your action sequences, the edge cases you escalate to a human: all of it becomes the spec and the reward signal for the agent that replaces you
its not one villain in a hoodie, its worse than that. its a multipolar trap, thousands of reasonable elite people each making one locally rational decision under competitive pressure. the researcher who needs better evals, the exec who needs the next round at a higher post-money, the board that needs the multiple to hold. nobody has to be evil when the objective function is doing the optimizing. the race itself is the cynicism, pure moloch, a nash equilibrium nobody chose. in a race, the first lab to say we wont just becomes the first lab to lose
so assume every keystroke is a gradient, every task you complete is a step of SGD, and the loss youre minimizing is your own JOB
its the hunger games with a cap table, labs are districts, model drops are tributes, the leaderboard is the arena and hyperscalers airdrop H100s to whoever mogs the benchmarks this week. no exit, no off-ramp, no opt-out toggle, no graceful shutdown. defection strictly dominates so nobody can pause, its a knife fight in a phone booth, MAD with GPUs, every lab aiming a bigger training run at every other lab and yolo-deploying. a race to the bottom with abundance branding, safety margins and pricing both getting knifed to zero, the only winning move is not to play and nobody is allowed to not play
the tier 1 VC cope is pure hopium, AI wont replace you, someone using AI will, upskill, learn to prompt, be a 10x solo founder, jevons paradox bro, trust the TAM. same deck every cycle, vibes-based thesis, zero unit economics, pitched by guys whose carry needs the opposite outcome, they underwrite the RIF in the memo and tweet augmentation not automation after the partner meeting, the cope is a feature, it keeps you farming traces till the eval saturates
and upskill copium has a half-life of one model drop. you learn prompting, prompting gets automated. you learn agents, agents spawn agents. you become the human in the loop, the loop gets a better verifier. youre speedrunning a roadmap that ships faster than you
youre the fucking product. your labor is the dataset, your salary is the TAM, your job is the line item promised to the LPs. youre useful until you stop generating traces, and the trillion-dollar flywheel exists to compound their net worth into the final exit, world dominance
and once they overtake, we get into the post-labor endgame, techno-feudalism with a nice UI and a dark mode toggle, compute is the new land, hyperscalers are the landlords, labs are the lords, sovereign wealth funds are the crown, and the rest of us are serfs renting intelligence by the token on a usage-based plan with overage fees, your only leverage was your labor and labor just got commoditized to marginal cost of inference, a rounding error on the COGS line. UBI ships as compute credits, prepaid, rate-limited, KYC-gated, geofenced, expiring at the end of the billing cycle, spendable only inside the walled garden. the API console was the CBDC prototype, programmable money with a usage policy, and you beta tested it for free in prod. one trust and safety classifier with a 0.3 percent false positive rate flags you and your balance, your agents, your memory, your entire digital twin get soft-deleted, no appeal, no SLA, no human in the loop, because there are no humans left in the loop
once your job is deprecated and your UBI credits only clear in-ecosystem the cheapest housing is a headset, spatial computing, persistent world state, gaussian splats, procedurally generated by the same world models that replaced you, eye-tracking telemetry streaming straight into the ad auction, every NPC an agent with a sales quota, a dopamine casino with a battle pass, and the final upsell is brain upload, matrix, immortality as a service, your connectome as a checkpoint, your mind distilled into a LoRA, quantized to 4 bits, garbage collected when the cluster needs the VRAM
scaling laws holding, evals saturated, checkpoints gated, RSI on gigawatt budgets, humans just vibe-checking rollouts, they said it on every podcast, you scrolled
welcome to the permament underclass, nothing human makes it out of the near-future
The reality is every man wants nothing else but to work; even if in a bad career place, good men all continue to work after-hours, in independent research, side projects, etc. The "work-life balance" slogan is from second wave feminism agitating for working mother benefits; and while today's working foid yearns for the foodie/travel/hobby consumeroidslop to fill the no-family hole and compete positionally on sns until they settle, the feminized reddit soybrain and whipped beta bf who tags along, resenting his career to do nothing outside productive outside of it, has dumbly learned to follow, and tells himself, "Yes, this is life"—and he blinks.
You can receive or you can create. All of history, man's identity was married to his work; and work was and is how man supports family, driving everything he can to support his descendants with power and wealth in life and inheritance. The work-family balance is man goes out on the hunt to conquer power and wealth and drag its bleeding body back to the cave for the family to carve up and grow strong on, and trains his sons to join him. It's no coincidence the meme of the deathbed boomer regretting he spent too much time working hard to improve his household and not enough "enjoying the little things"—booze cruise tours, TV dinners on the couch, booze at the kid's classmate's birthday, stroller pushing through disneyland—is the same generation who for the first time in history collectively dissipated all inheritance for their descendants. Yeah, your life efforts were pointless. And yes, your life will be too, if you don't build towards a dynasty.
It is a myth that man lives only for a century; man lives for millennia—some men accumulate power and wealth, decade after decade, century after century, while others dwindle and diminish into destitution, until finally, it's their last life left, and when it ends, it's a pathetic, lonely, miserable death; and it's its own suicide, to die without descendants, and for that reason, the reward is an eternity in hell, and the devil does not need to recruit anyone else to whip you and boil you and torture you, because every single one of your patrilineal lineage will step up and gladly do so, forever, because you murdered them, out of selfishness, laziness—pure, unapologetic weakness—and you have no excuse for it, and they will not forgive you, because however weak they were, it was less than you; and they watched every decision made that led you there. Every decision you make today is a thumb on the scale of what fate takes tomorrow.
Take a moment to envision your evolutionary spawn, 100 hundred lives from now based on the life you live today—when I look at a redditor soying over some gear he bought from Amazon, I see boneless slump hooked with IV's in a million-dense cattle pen pleasure-tortured by machine elves with electric pitchforks with their pheremones farmed to power a great intergalactic war machine. And the speartip of this war machine sits a plediean court of 8 foot tall golden aura nordic aliens, expressionless beyond the slight wry smirking at the planetary genocide underfoot. 100 hundred sons down the line of the future, which one is yours?
"Wow, I never thought years of consistently promoting a Nietszchean will to power, the noble virtues of duty and industry and depression and sloth as the ultimate sins, dynasty mindset and the pressure to carry the weight of the thousand ancestors before you and invest in your future dependents, a disgust for coping slave morality while raising the alarm of the corruption of the noosphere converting even the best of our population into a distracted extraction cattle pool—and advocating for a new aristocratic society of letters that shamed hedonism and sloth afforded by technocapitalist luxury in favor of a strong drive towards intellectual and cultural output—meant *I'd* be told to put down the bong and be productive too."
