It is with a heavy heart that I bear very sad news: the death of Richard Shepherd, BBC Radio Wales' football commentator @CardiffCityFC @NewportCounty @SwansOfficial @Wrexham_AFC @FAWales. Welsh football has lost a distinctive voice. Sympathy to his wife Brenda, family, friends.

Very sad. A true gentleman. Didn’t seem to like the spotlight and all that came with management, but clearly loved the game. Can remember vividly his boys watching proudly on as his Swans side won promotion at Bury. Rest in peace Kenny

Our course director on the BBC training scheme told us ‘sport is news’ -don’t treat it as a lesser story. The Iran nuclear talks will carry on next week, so we’re proud to lead the 10 o’clock news tonight with double gold success for TeamGB in Italy. Great piece Paul.
