ALT A close-up view of the Moon, filling most of the frame. Along the left side of the image, the terminator divides the illuminated and darkened sides of the Moon. Just before the terminator, the lunar surface transitions from the smoother near side to the bumpier, more cratered far side. From this perspective, the distinction between the two is clearer. The craters on the far side create a bumpy, textured surface. Near the lower right hand corner of the image, a large circular basin has darker mottling near its center. Credit: NASA

ALT Earthset captured through the Orion spacecraft window at 6:41 p.m. EDT, April 6, 2026, during the Artemis II crew’s flyby of the Moon. A muted blue Earth with bright white clouds sets behind the cratered lunar surface. The dark portion of Earth is experiencing nighttime. On Earth’s day side, swirling clouds are visible over the Australia and Oceania region.
In the foreground, Ohm crater has terraced edges and a flat floor interrupted by central peaks. Central peaks form in complex craters when the lunar surface, liquefied on impact, splashes upwards during the crater’s formation. Credit: NASA

ALT A cluster of stars inside a large nebula. The clouds of gas and dust are predominantly bright red in colour and wispy, akin to flames. They are clumped in the bottom-left corner. Other clouds, deeper in the cluster behind many of the stars, appear pale pink. The stars are concentrated in the top half of the image and are mostly small, bright white and six-pointed. They cast blue light over the nebula. Other stars with very long spikes surrounding them lie in the foreground.

ALT Grainy space image, with white dots on a dark background. At the centre of the image is a larger, bright white blob with a faint white line stretching towards the top of the frame.

ALT Grainy space image, with white dots on a dark background. At the centre of the image is a larger, bright white blob with a faint white line stretching towards the top of the frame. Key elements of the image are labelled: coma, plasma tail, potential dust tail. An inset shows the location of the Sun, Juice and comet 3I/ATLAS during the observation.

ALT Two images of space, one on top of the other. The bottom half depicts a swirling patch of red and magenta clouds, with bright blue, six-pointed spots shining through. In the top half, the same image is seen in shades of orange, but the stars are much more numerous, filling the screen almost completely.

ALT Gaseous yellow-orange filaments look like a rose seen from the side and tilted slightly from upper left to lower right, slightly higher than the center of the frame. Extending from the rose to upper left and lower right are gaseous outflows that appear as red lobes that have an overall shape of tall, narrow triangles with rounded tips. Each red triangle is made up of wavy, irregular lines. Dozens of stars are scattered across the field. One particularly bright white star with eight diffraction spikes is located at the top of the yellow rose. Another bright blue star with even more prominent diffraction spikes is to its lower left. The background of space is black. Image credit: NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, Yu Cheng (NAOJ)
