Cyprian Nyakundi has raised a question Kenyans cannot afford to ignore: What happens if a sitting president refuses to hand over power after losing an election, and the internet is switched off? Who takes responsibility? Who protects the people’s verdict? What safeguards will prevent such a crisis? IEBC, the Judiciary and security agencies must answer these questions before 2027, not after the damage is done. A credible election must guarantee not just the right to vote, but the peaceful transfer of power. Kenya must prepare for every scenario. Democracy cannot depend on one person’s goodwill.
