When you hear Trump's team brag about how much they have given to Ukraine, here are the actual numbers.

This is a big deal. Ukraine has spent years developing new capabilities across domains to defend itself that are reliant on this tech. What we are now seeing is a form of strategic yet morally deficient coercion. It is giving Putin a huge advantage, showing other authoritarians how to manipulate the US president, and will probably cause many Ukrainian casualties, regardless of whether the slow down is a one time thing or something more enduring.
Restrictions affecting military Starlink connections disrupted Ukraine’s drone strike operations overnight, Defense Ministry sources told Kyiv Post. Officials are investigating the cause, including preliminary reports that connections are being interrupted at speeds above 160 kph (100 mph). kyivpost.com/post/87014

Other countries might be defined by blood, territory or language. America has always been creedal, an ideal of liberty turned into a state. Its critics back-handedly recognise as much. The reason that anti-Americanism is a force in world affairs (unlike anti-Algerianism or anti-Armenianism or anti-Albanianism) is that America’s enemies acknowledge that it stands for something. That something is the package represented by personal autonomy, limited government, constitutional rule, regular elections and private enterprise – in a word, freedom. A bias towards freedom has, until now, characterised US foreign policy. A people habituated to liberty immediately saw what was wrong with Nazism and Communism. Which is why current US foreign policy is so shocking to pro-Americans. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is one of those rare occasions when we can clearly identify the aggressor. Vladimir Putin sought to annex a neighbour that offered him no threat – a neighbour that had given up its nuclear weapons in return for a promise that its sovereignty would be respected within its existing borders. Who guaranteed that promise? Britain, the United States and (never forget) Russia. Donald Trump is backing a belligerent dictatorship against a beleaguered democracy. Putin is the one leader he never disparages. He threatens annexation against Denmark, muses about handing away British territory, wages economic war on Canada. But not Russia. Never Russia. Now Trump is buying diesel from Russia, potash from Belarus, minerals from China – all because he doesn’t want to buy them from Canada, which has stood at America’s side in war after war. American friends, can you not see what this is doing, not just to America’s standing, but to the free world which your fathers have built since 1941? Trump is bringing down the international system from which the US has been the chief beneficiary. And for what? To drink liberal tears? God help us.

The Right’s lack of support for Ukraine is utterly disgraceful, from Trump all the way down. And it’s not just lack of sufficient support, it’s the ongoing poisonous narrative that Ukraine is the aggressor, Zelensky is a dictator, Russia is misunderstood, and Putin is an ally.

He's right.
It is sickening that the USA is now lifting sanctions on Russian fuel, and transparently ridiculous to blame Ukraine for the spike in prices that obviously began with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Putin is murdering innocent Ukrainian civilians every day. The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives. And yet the White House is apparently determined to force American drivers to bankroll Putin’s slaughter. It won’t work and I doubt it will make much difference to the price of fuel. If we want Russian oil and gas back on the world market then let’s end this war - with a free, sovereign and independent Ukraine.

Ah, the famous “250 studies.” There are indeed 250 papers on that website. I've even gone through them, which is more than the people who keep quoting this. What there aren't are 250 studies showing vaccines cause autism. The trick is to collect papers about autism, inflammation, mitochondria, aluminum, mercury, cytokines, oxidative stress, immune activation, animal experiments and assorted biological hypotheses—and then place them beneath a heading saying “vaccines cause autism.” A bibliography is not a conclusion. If I give you 250 papers about matches, gasoline, smoke, firefighters and burned buildings, I haven't produced 250 studies showing who started the fire. Meanwhile, studies actually designed to answer the question have included hundreds of thousands of children. A Danish cohort alone included 657,461 children and found no increased autism risk after MMR. And the WHO has just completed an updated systematic review. The better-quality evidence does not support a causal association between vaccines and autism. So yes, there are 250 citations. Now comes the inconvenient part: reading them.

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

During the first week of cross-country, a freshman asked twice how far the team was running. She started at the back and fell off before the first turn. By then, the front group was already gone. A senior looked over her shoulder. She let her group go and jogged back. "You know the way?" The freshman shook her head. "Stay with me. We go left up here." They finished several minutes behind everyone else. Most of the team was already stretching. The next morning, the freshman was waiting beside the senior when practice started. Four Augusts later, the coach watched her reach that same turn, look over her shoulder, and wait.

Real talk—Memorial Day. This weekend is a tough one for a lot of us. It’s easy to find yourself in a dark place, asking “why?” Why them? Why not me? Why were we there in the first place? You’re allowed to do this, but I always tell people to focus on two simple things this weekend: 1. Remember them the way they would want to be remembered. 2. Do them proud. You can’t change the past, you can only move forward. Do it for them.
