We had a bit of rain this evening.

I had never seen colonial rotifers and didn't know they exist. Cool coil-like holdfasts connecting them. Anyone know more about these animals or can give a more specific identification? 3/3

However, after taking them to my DIC lab scope it quickly became clear that these are multicellular metazoans. The hyperactive cilia left no place for doubt: Rotifers. Cute little eye spots and also eggs confirmed the ID. 2/3
