Perhaps it’s time for Minnesota to elect a Chief Election Officer who doesn’t play for the Red or Blue teams. Tune in and decide for yourself.
“When the chief election officer happens to be a partisan who plays for one of the two teams, it’s hard for that person, regardless of their intent, to not give the appearance of bias in their decisions.”

I’m a fan of Almanac and several weeks ago enjoyed their debate with all three candidates for state auditor. There is a debate this Friday for Secretary of State. Alas, it will be limited to the two major party candidates.
Gallup says 45% of Americans consider themselves politically independent, so there is certainly an audience that wants to be introduced to new options.

Vikings at the Buccaneers!
One things for sure, nobody in that stadium would let one team hire the refs.
Chip Tangen uses that same test for Secretary of State:
“In a football game, we would never stand for one team to hire the referees.”
— Chip Tangen, Integrity and Choice platform
That’s platform point 1: Election Integrity for Us All.
Minnesota’s chief elections officer has always come from one of the two major parties. Chip is unbound from both, so both sides can trust the referee.
SKOL Vikings!
Enjoy the game. Then demand the same standard in November.

TONIGHT in Mankato, Chip Tangen will at Minnesota State University.
Free and open to the public. Meet-and-greet reception after. Free parking starts at 5:00 PM in the visitors pay lot (lot 4) across from the CSU.
Chip’s second platform point is A Voice for Independent-minded Voters. 45% of Americans identify as independents (Gallup, Jan 2026).
Minnesota’s ballot access laws are among the least progressive. A Secretary of State forum is a chance to hear the candidate who is actually trying to put more choices on that ballot.

Thanks to The Ox at @KNSI for having me on his program this morning. We covered the Libertarian Party and third parties in general, ballot access, and a brief remembrance of 9/11.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at the MN State Fair! 🎡 Our wheel showed how few races give voters more than 2 choices on the ballot. That’s why I’m fighting for better ballot access.
More candidates. More choices. More Parties, More Fun!
Great story from @fox9 on how the @mnstatefair levels the playing field for us third-party candidates. Nice way to cap off 12 straight days at the fair.
The state fair is giving political candidates — long shots and frontrunners alike — a rare shot at nearly 2 million potential voters in just 12 days. fox9.com/news/minnesota-stat…

More parties. More fun. 🎡
That’s the State Fair. It should be the ballot too!
Chip Tangen is at the bright yellow LPMN booth TODAY.
He’s running for Secretary of State so independent and minor-party candidates can actually reach the ballot so voters get more than two options.
45% of Americans identify as independents (Gallup, Jan 2026). Minnesota’s ballot access laws are among the least progressive.
Chip’s platform is Integrity and Choice: open the process so more voices can compete.
Find the yellow booth on the west side of Nelson, at Judson & Nelson. The DNR exhibit is right behind us.
No lecture. Just a conversation about more choices on the ballot.
