Imagine you’re a conman. You’ve said for years you have MAGIC BEANS. You’ve shown lots of REALLY BIG normal beans that you made in your lab.
“Almost there!” you say—over and over.

But while the beans keep getting bigger. No magic yet…
What do you do? That money is SO CLOSE.

In my 53 years, I have never known a time when I could not locate a semblance of hope until now. It's only a feeling, but an uncomfortable one, one that makes me feel powerless. Three girls from a conservative village in Garut, Indonesia.
In 2014 they were 14. They found System of a Down on a school computer. A teacher said start a band. They did.
Then the village answered.
Stones. Death threats. Smashed windows. Cars trying to run them down. Power cut mid-gig. “Devil’s music.” Haram. All because three hijab-wearing kids dared to play metal.
They named the band Voice of Baceprot. It means “noisy.”
