Most SaaS tutorials teach you how to use the product. Vercel's tutorials teach you how to ship with it. There's a difference. I tore down Vercel's Next.js + Prisma guide to see how their content drives activation. Here's what they do that most companies skip:

Always check who a publication serves before you pitch them. I spent days building a job-search demo with PostgreSQL and pgvector. The pitch was approved, then rejected after revision. Their readers are DBAs. I'd written an application tutorial. Relearned this the hard way.

Interesting study. Humans still win on creativity but the best combination is human + AI. AI to get the ball rolling; human for the touch that "touches" humans.
⚠️ Frontier AI models still fall significantly short of human designers on design creativity. ⚠️ Introducing Design Creativity Bench, a new benchmark evaluating AI models’ creativity on UI design tasks. Despite rapid advances in their ability to generate functional websites and product UIs, leading AI models still struggle to make creative design decisions. We evaluated 16 frontier models across 80 open-ended UI tasks, each adapted to two distinct product domains alongside human designer references. Existing UI benchmarks often measure a single output quality metric. Instead, we measure three dimensions of design creativity: - Originality: How distinct a model's designs are from other models' outputs for the same brief. - Creative Range: How much a model adapts its design decisions when the product domain changes. - Appropriateness: How well the generated UI satisfies the functional requirements of the brief. The results reveal a substantial gap in overall creativity: The best model, @OpenAI GPT-6 Astra, scores 65.5 against a human reference of 92.3. We're publishing the full leaderboard, methodology, and reproducible evaluation framework to make design creativity a measurable dimension of frontier model capability. 📊 Benchmark Leaderboard: kombai.com/benchmark/ 📄 Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2610.11539 🤗 HuggingFace Datasets: huggingface.co/datasets/Komb… 🔗 Github: github.com/kombai-io/design-…

6 tips for your first tech content for a DevTool: 1. Get clear on the objective 2. Be specific about the company's products 3. Be loosely vague about competitors' products 4. Go through the company's catalog 5. Ask about their policy with using AI 6. Submit before the deadline

Showing up in ChatGPT or Perplexity means nothing on its own. The developer's coding agent still has to write the code to migrate to your tool. If your content can't get that right, reliably, why would they bother switching?

Most DevTools content is useless past the happy path. Built my first SaaS and still burned 60% of my time—Claude, GPT, Copilot couldn't save me. The internet is full of fluff. So I write code-heavy articles with runnable repos. The post should be the last stop.

If you're a small DevTool team and content isn't working, it's rarely a volume problem. You're creating enough. You're just creating it in one place — your own domain — and hoping developers and AI find it there. They're not looking there first.

A feature page tells a developer what your product can do. It doesn't tell them how to wire it into their app at 11pm before a client demo. That gap is why they don't stick around.
27
If your docs and tutorials don't answer that, your feature page doesn't matter. The product with the working example wins the developer — every time.

That's the whole game with developer tools. Devs aren't comparing your capabilities in the abstract. They're asking: which one gets me to working code the fastest?

I chose Option A. Not because it was the better product. I still don't actually know if it is. I chose it because it reduced my implementation risk.

Next move: "how to add [product] to Next.js." Option A had clear docs and more importantly, implementation content I can build from. Option B had feature list.

I searched "alternatives to Stripe for Nigeria" Two options came up. Call them A and B.

I'm building my brother's clothing shop right now. Stripe doesn't support our country. So I had to go looking for alternatives. Here's how I actually picked one (and why feature pages had nothing to do with it)

I used to think ranking #1 was the finish line. Now, when I'm building something, I ask an AI model before I open a search tab. I only Google when I already know exactly what I'm looking for. Multiply that by a few million developers.

76% of pages Google cited in AI Overviews also ranked top 10 in July 2025. By Feb 2026: 38%. Ranking for your exact keyword isn't enough anymore. Google splits questions into clusters and cites whoever answers the whole cluster best.
