What is life w/o a pond? Heaven is sitting by the pond listening to the birds regale us & knowing the peepers & wood frogs are in the wings.

Husband just ventured to the snow-frocked window. I held my breath as he gazed at the vista of snow. He hates winter. "Well, at least I can take a day off from sawing logs today," he said cheerfully. "I'll just rest and put wood into the stove instead." Total shocker.

First wood frog croaked yesterday. More today. Guess they haven't looked at a recent weather forecast.

Winter finally arrived in Maine. Better late than never!

My husband has some blossoms on the little peach trees he planted in his greenhouse. Nice winter day to be inside there. Strawberries and herbs in the background.

Sun just came out. Time to go shovel.

Robins! Earliest day yet. Also, ice out of our pond two days ago. (Again, earliest date ever and my husband has lived here all his life, 73 years.) Waiting on the wood frogs!

Country living 101. #Maine

We've been without power for about 8 hours now. Trees, lines, poles down everywhere. Good thing we have a generator and Starlink Internet or my husband would be going crazy. I did need to cook dinner on the wood stove, but that was no problem. I've had decades of experience.

The sky is ablaze tonight.

Wringing my hands today trying to figure out the logistics of 2 Thanksgivings and Christmas, gifts, goodies, turkeys, etc. when I suddenly realized how blessed I am to have so much family and so many wonderful friends in my life. #gratitude #amen Bring it on!
