There is a blanket drive in a few weeks for refugees at a northside shelter. Please gather and drop off car-seats and blankets you have or purchase some, so that asylum seekers can stay warm and safe in the coming fall months

In Chicago, we're also blessed to have @ChiCommunityJS which has a daily presence outside the Cook County Jail to meet anyone who's released and provide them with similar resources/support

Call Mid-America Realty and tell them to stop evicting unhoused people. Today MA and CPD attempted to remove a 77 year old man in a wheelchair, missing a leg, from the sidewalk in front of Belmont and Major. Call them and give them hell! (630)954-7326

For a year @ChicagosMayor has ignored pleas of better conditions for refugees from the Progressive and Latino Caucuses, multiple Demonstrations at City Hall and his home from activists who helped get him elected This week the city is evicting refugee children into a heat wave

Come volunteer! Amazing folks bringing that mutual aid!
Chicago Community Jail Support@ChiCommunityJS17 May 2024
Looking to volunteer? Chicago Community Jail Support NEEDS YOU! We need folks to be on the ground at our tent & people with drivers licenses. Often, folks being released need help getting to their possessions (typically held at a precinct that can be miles away) or directly home.

imagine with me for 5 seconds that you've been arrested & are held in cook county jail awaiting trial, conditions court, or you can't make bail for an outstanding warrant. it may feel far away from your lived experience, but in reality, its more possible than you might think. 🧵

I made a one-time donation to cover my usual monthly donation for a year. I encourage you to donate! Jail support works to meet the immediate needs of folks being released from jail. Cook County jail is an inhumane place and jail support also affirms the humanity of all people.

🚨 URGENT 🚨 Chicago Community Jail Support needs your help! Our fiscal sponsor is winding down operations, so we cannot accept donations after March 15! If you are giving a recurring donation, these will not be renewed after March.

CHICAGO’S COOK COUNTY JAIL IS STILL VIOLATING HUMAN RIGHTS CCJ CONDITIONS UPDATE 10/4 🧵 Someone was inside for 1 month & reported that the water was consistently undrinkable. He saw a nurse once/week & they would give him a container of water, but it was only enough for 1 day.

Chicago is getting some record breaking heat. If this isn’t state sanctioned torture, then I don’t know what is. I assure you, we all need water. We especially need water when the temp at 10:18pm is 89F* and tomorrow will hit 102F*.

If it’s a day ending in -y, then Cook County Jail is still violating human rights Despite empty assurances from Jail officials to local electeds, reports are continuing to come in that indicate those being held in CCJ do not have access to safe, drinkable water
