What does Mr Martin makes of the following lines from the Proclamation: "We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sovereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people." In the context of current socio-political constrains, would he agree with the Proclamation that 1. the Irish people own Ireland 2. the Irish people [do and should] control Irish destinies? In the light of recent and continuing significant demographic changes to the population of this country, would he care to comment on the significance of the claim that the right of the Irish to the ownership of Ireland and to control Irish destinies can only be extinguished by the destruction of the Irish people?
