Halloween is fast approaching and at Chester's Dee Radio, it will be welcomed by a new ghost story every day from 26 to 30 October at 8.45am. I particularly like the ghost dog who barks at customers! @walkingtoursofchester walkingtoursofchester.co.uk @Chester_Ghost @Dee1063

The Silver Plough at Pitton in the beautiful scenery north of Salisbury: warm welcome, great food - the fish was cooked to perfection and the mushy peas were a culinary masterpiece - and a lovely building. @Silverplough The Silver Plough - Pitton.

Great evening of music at the Bear and Billet, Chester last night: Captain Andy s new song about AI is destined to become a classic. And talking of classics, a touch of Judy Driscoll and Brian Augur at the end sent a wave of smiles and nostalgia round the room.

Discovered Pierogi, the Polish cafe on Brook St today and not only had a bowl of a favourite soup, Zurek, I also learnt how to pronounce the name properly. And oh, those raspberry, blueberry and cream cheese dumplings!

Last chance to see! The tethering stone found at the centre of the Roman amphitheatre arena tells us that brutal events took place on the site. Centuries later the finds tell a very different story. ‘Chester Amphitheatre: an 8,000 year story’ finishes 4pm Sunday 12 July.
