A new day for FIDE.
The election is behind us. Now our focus is on what lies ahead - working together, delivering on our commitments, and building an even stronger future for chess, for Member Federations, for the players and the fans.
Today is the final round of the Olympiad and the second day of the FIDE Congress. I wish all the players, delegates, officials and everyone involved a wonderful day.
The work begins.

#chess It is NOT a good start for the new FIDE administration to ignore and bypass the Ukrainian Chess Federation @UAchessfed in appointing a Ukrainian vice-president without their official approval. In addition to the fact that Mr Podolyak has absolutely no relation to chess, exactly as Mr Kolobkov (RUS) doesn't. At this point, both choices seem to serve only non-chess interests and constitute a co-ordinated attack on the Ukrainian Chess Federation.

Russians in the hall trying to secure support from delegates to readmit the Russian Chess Federation to FIDE. This is entirely contrary to a very clear ruling by CAS. The request comes from Nicaragua, Belarus, Cuba and Armenia (The usual suspects). Let's see if the organisation has a death wish and wants to lose its status with the IOC by ignoring the ruling.
