Tropics are quiet. Yes. Official start of the season is June 1st. Yes. Then why am I showing Tropical Updates many have asked. Well a few reason why. NHC starts May 15th with daily outlooks four times a day. Some pages and sources are already teasing areas to watch. Many come to MWP to see what I think. Staying quiet is not an option. Plus we have had 11 named systems since 2010 before June 1st (pictured here). So yes tropics can happen this time of year. Hope this gives some clarity on this. It is not hype.
