Alonso and the boys have a 5 game run until Pool in the league which will determine if we can stay in touch or mid table or lower is our most likely outcome for the season.
However bad Utd are they have a free week and one injury to us up front or in MF renders us useless.
I would also suggest that allowing you opponents to have near 70% possession in the first half is not the best way to get the home supply behind you as they are all wondering what the fuck is going on.
The only thing that might keep us in touch with top 6 by NYD is teams taking pts of each other but as I said pre season 8th is about where we’ll finish.
Be prepared for a bad 10 days of results b4 the int break. Does he start Welbeck twice in 4 days? Prob not so he shd prioritise him for Utd. Again, poor squad planning when one injury up front or in MF hurts us too much.
When we are assessing an injury that player is usually out for a few weeks so I expect we don’t se Joao until after the international break.
While Penders error was poor watch our defenders at the corner. Every single one allows the player they are marking to be free, esp the one who jumps with Penders. His marker Lacroix is 5 yards off him. Doesn’t help matters.
Would not be a surprise to lose Weds and Sat and at Sunderland b4 the break. But we shd be looking at next 5 of Utd, Sund, Leeds Forest & Palace as all winnable.
It’s hard to win games when you have so little possession. Still seen nothing to make me think we can finish higher than 8th. We’ll be out of one domestic cup on Weds and will just carry on being mediocre.
Already dropped 42% of home pts available to this season so far. Fully expect to drop more pts agains Utd. Poor by Alonso.
Whoever wants it most will win this. We can’t gift goals and must take our chances. I think the ref and crowd will be key.
Shame re JP, Welbeck wouldn’t last 90 but that front 3 will lose the physical battle with Spurs back 4, so sped and movement is the way to go. Rest as expected.
I doubt Cov will get anything tonight but would be nice if Spurs come to us on Sat still without a win.
Final predictions for today.
1. No early goal for us.
2. They score from a set piece.
3. We gift a goal.
At best a draw. Prob 2-1 or 3-1 to them. Hope I’m wrong on all counts.
