Delhi Police say, "On 17.10.2026, while on patrolling duty, information was received from the Station Controller, Jama Masjid Metro Station, regarding a person who had been apprehended by CISF personnel. Upon receipt of the information, ASI Masum Raza reached the spot, where CISF personnel handed over a person identified as Mohd. Shuaib, R/o H. No. 6, Khalapar, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, who also disclosed his other address as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On inquiry, CISF personnel informed that, during checking and frisking, some suspicious material had been noticed in the person's backpack. Upon examination, a gold powder-like substance was found concealed inside an undergarment kept in the backpack. The recovered substance was weighed and found to be approximately 155 grams. During preliminary interrogation, the person disclosed that he resides in Malaysia and works in the textile sector. He further stated that his wife is a Malaysian citizen and that they have two children, who are also Malaysian citizens. He further disclosed that he had arrived in Delhi on 16.10.2026 carrying the said powder-like substance and had stayed at a hotel named Wasir (as stated by him) in the Jama Masjid area. On the day of the incident, he had visited Jama Masjid Metro Station to travel to Lajpat Nagar, where he was apprehended by CISF personnel during checking. In this regard, the Customs authorities were informed about the incident and requested to take appropriate legal action. However, they stated that the matter did not fall within their jurisdiction and, therefore, they were unable to initiate any action. As the police suspected that the recovered substance might be a narcotic or psychotropic substance, the concerned Narcotics Department was contacted, and the substance was examined. Upon examination, it was found that the recovered gold powder-like substance was not a narcotic substance. As the aforementioned person, Mohd. Shuaib Alam, failed to produce any documentary proof of ownership of the recovered substance and could not provide any satisfactory explanation regarding its possession, legal proceedings were initiated against him vide the DP Act at PS Supreme Court metro station."
