Thanks Coach Ken and Jay for having me! I enjoyed reminiscing on my playing days and discussing athlete health and training load considerations. See show link notes for further info on some of the efforts myself and amazing colleagues have been working on. 🥎💪⚾️
Great episode today!! If you’re a parent this is a must listen! There is a reason mechanics matter! There is a reason breaks are healthy!! Please give it a listen, a like and a share!! Great conversation with @ChelseaMartinPT
Injury prevention is (or at least should be) a big topic of interest for fastpitch softball coaches and parents alike. Especially as athletes start ramping up for the spring season. This week Jay and Ken speak with an expert in this area - Dr. Chelsea Martin, PT, DPT, SCS, who holds a doctorate in physical therapy and is now working toward her doctorate in epidemiology with a focus on sports injury prevention at the University of North Carolina. Chelsea talks about the epidemic of overuse injuries, the positives and negatives of being a multi-sport athlete, the importance of rest and active recovery for injury prevention and more. She also shares her personal journey as a 3-time softball state champion pitcher in North Carolina and later a pitcher at the University of Louisville. For those interested in more information on softball injury histories and research, check out the show notes for links.
