Dork opinion: one of the biggest reasons I disavow Scott's attempt to re-imagine and revive the ALIEN universe, is the fact he messed up the Space Jockey species. They were not 8 foot tall albino men. They were a race utterly apart from people. Vaguely humanoid, but spawned from a different world. Parallel evolution. With their own science and own concerns. Dark Horse comics picked up on this with no problem.
