Rewatching and I think the biggest issue with Mensah last night was he wasn’t mentally prepared for the intensity of that rivalry. I don’t think he realized what a dog fight that game is

Mentioned this on @RealOnesCanes (which you'll hear later). FSU took the ball on the left hash every time they could choose where the ball was to start a drive after a touchback. Did it again here to make the vertical throw shorter laterally. Little detail that helped Daniels

I know much will be made about Miami winning in double overtime over Florida State, but October 17 was all about SURVIVE AND ADVANCE in college football across the entire country.
We witnessed a historic weekend of chaos, with more AP Top 10 teams losing than on any other weekend in college football history. Miami, however, found a way to survive.
Was it pretty? Absolutely not. And there are obviously things this Miami team needs to clean up moving forward. The Hurricanes made mistakes, failed to capitalize on opportunities, and allowed Florida State to hang around in a game they had chances to put away. Those are things that will need to be addressed, especially as the competition gets tougher and the stakes continue to rise.
But there’s also something to be said about finding a way to win when things aren’t going your way. Good teams aren’t always going to play their best football. There will be games where execution isn’t sharp, where the opponent plays above expectations, and where adversity forces you to respond.
Miami was tested. Miami was pushed. And Miami answered the call.
Hats off to Florida State, too. The Seminoles fought tremendously throughout that game, and considering the deeper, systemic issues surrounding that program, it’s a pretty fascinating situation. For all the problems Florida State has dealt with, that team showed up in Miami and competed with a level of urgency and determination that deserves recognition. Speaking with several Miami contingents after the game, the sentiment was very much a level of respect for what Florida State did on Saturday.
That doesn’t excuse Miami’s shortcomings. You can acknowledge that Florida State played a tremendous game while also recognizing that Miami has plenty to improve upon. Both things can be true.
At this point in the season, style points are nice, but they’re not nearly as important as continuing to stack wins. Just look around the country at what happened to several teams that weren’t fortunate enough to escape this weekend.
Miami still has work to do. Nobody should pretend otherwise. I am certain they will have one of the toughest weeks of practice under Mario Cristobal if you understand how things operate in Coral Gables.
But the Hurricanes are still standing, and on a weekend when so many other giants fell, that is what matters. 1-0

Meanwhile, Mark Fletcher implored me to talk to Javian who was the star RB of the night. He calls him the "next great running back"
Very cool Fletcher embraces the Freshman and roots for him and is not intimidated by him (it was also Fletcher's birthday)
Postgame with West Boca product Javian Mallory, who was a work horse in his first Miami/FSU game as a Freshman @WPBF25News

He had a brutal stretch my man
That decision on running past the Los a good five yards and throwing was bad
The pick was a red. Totally on him.
Fourth down wide open first and bounced the ball at rbs feet
That’s taking potentially 21 points off the board
That’s the difference of winning comfortably or the last second dog fight we witnessed last night
Both things are true

My favorite cliche is sports applies tonight: NEVER apologize for a win. Did Miami make too many mistakes? Absolutely. Was some of the play-calling and decision making baffling? Absolutely. Are the Canes 6-0? Absolutely. That’s all that matters.

This is a game Miami loses in past years. Georgia Tech and Syracuse Cam Ward year. Louisville and SMU last year. The same things happened. Offense wasn't typical and defense struggled. The narrative will be overrated but I see growth. This is a day where surviving matters most

This is just a hunch, but, I feel like the six penalties that have cost the Hurricanes 52 yards are going to be a topic of discussion at halftime.

Defense has forced two turnover on downs deep in the redzone. We did not get one first down after either.

Dear @stephenasmith - HBCU expert here. The FUTURE Act was done by Alma Adams, passed both chambers with veto proof majorities, then signed. Only $85M was for HBCUs; the $255M includes MSIs. The fund was started by Pres. Bush in 2007.
Let's talk so you have good information.

There are over 300 schools that play Division 1 Basketball.
To only have around 60 teams is MALPRACTICE…
My protest still stands. No HBCUs…No Buy
I’m very concerned about the new college basketball game 2k is supposed to put out this year if there are schools in conferences like the Big East that haven’t even heard about participating
All info via @MattBrownEP, he says he would not expect this “college basketball experience” to have more than 60 programs 😕😕

I really think WWE needs to make Royce Keys the BIGGEST heel threat in the company over the next year or so.
Here's why...
If Oba Femi eventually defeats Roman Reigns for the World Title, WHO is going to feel like a legitimate threat to Oba?
Roman is at the very top of the food chain. If Oba beats him, you can't just throw anybody in there and expect fans to believe they can take Oba down.
That's why protecting Royce Keys is SO important.
Keep Oba and Royce FAR away from each other for at least a year. Let Oba continue destroying people and building his aura as an unstoppable babyface, while Royce becomes the most dangerous, hated heel in WWE.
Royce needs to win BIG matches, destroy credible opponents, and become someone even the top stars fear.
When they FINALLY stand face to face, it should feel SPECIAL.
No unnecessary losses. No random TV matches against each other. Don't rush it.
If WWE builds BOTH guys correctly, Oba Femi vs Royce Keys could be a MASSIVE money match.
Sometimes the best thing you can do in wrestling is have the patience to NOT give fans something right away.
