This is a special moment from a Neuralink VOICE trial patient. He is able to speak through an AI voice clone thanks to his brain signals being decoded and translated into words.

Grok Bot (and also the other AI models) are becoming incredibly good. It feels unfair to have this much capability for such a cheap price. But there is a problem. Even though I'm using Grok Bot every day for productive work, I'm constantly reminded of how slowly I type. My thoughts are faster than my fingers. It's also a challenge to compress my pure thoughts into words the computer can understand. The solution is Neuralink- a high bandwidth brain interface that will grab my raw brain signals and send them directly to Grok Bot. In the long run, the output could be fed/ downloaded to my brain directly as well. Also, the rate the models are improving is quickly going to make digital intelligence surpass biological intelligence. When digital intelligence is truly superhuman in every way, the only chance we have at keeping up is to have a robust connection. We need to bridge the gap between our brains and AI. These are the reasons Elon and the co-founders started Neuralink in the first place. They wanted to make sure AI did not decouple from collective human will. The way to summarize this in a single sentence is: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." But there's more. In the shorter term (the next dozen years or so), the primary mission is to help those with the worst brain and spine problems. Conditions like dementia, depression, blindness, tinnitus, and paralysis will be solved thanks to Neuralink- how about that for a side quest! These are the reasons Neuralink's mission statement is: "Create a generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs today and unlock human potential tomorrow."

Neuralink has the challenging task of making sure their chip package doesn't get rejected by the brain. Electronics don't do well in a salty, humid environment- exactly how the inside of the brain is. Since foreign objects don't typically interact well with our bodies, the team had to build an enclosure that can seal off the electronics from the brain tissue while maintaining their function. Just in case, the enclosure has been tested to withstand conditions much harsher than anything inside a human body.
