Rule #1 of being a storm chaser : Don't make plans with your friends in advance even on holidays. West coast troughing and severe weather will return for that exact timeframe.

Just intercepted the weakest tornado I have ever seen. Just strong enough to rip off some leaves and corn stalks.

The thing about 24 that bothers me most is… Who is this for? It’s not because TV was begging for it. ESPN had to be convinced. It’s not for a boatload of new cash. Losing conf champ games is gonna make this a minimal gain. It’s not because the 22nd team has any shot at a natty. It doesn’t. It’s certainly not done with the health, safety, or academic success of the players in mind since they don’t even get a say in this. It’s entirely to appease the people donating the money that keeps a financially irresponsible business model afloat. It’s discounting success so schools can say “look what your donation bought.” It’s an industry hellbent on treating investors and bosses as the customer, and customers as an infinite resource that will keep coming back no matter what.

I think AI is on the verge of changing weather forecasting FOREVER. After watching its forecast for Hurricane Isaias, I just had to dig deeper. This is what I found⬇️ I think we could be entering a GOLDEN AGE of Weather youtube.com/watch?v=j2Qtq1Qt…

Any tornado today would likely come from some sort of mesoscale accident from a storm interacting with the cold front. Otherwise the setup honestly looks awful. Cold front never stops slowly drifting south.

Really like the look on models for an uptick in severe weather towards the end of the month.

You can hate all you want lol. The NHC initial forecasts historically under do intensity forecasts. For the last few days using hurricane and AI models, category 3 has been squarely in get relm of possibility. Category 3 peak should not be a surprise. And it weakening to category 2 before landfall should not be surprising either. This has been explicitly forecasted by the highest performing models in the game. I am not trying to downplay by saying impacts won’t be significant, they will be. I simply stating that what Isaias is doing should not be surprising.
Seeing lots of fear mongering happening this morning. Isaias is behaving exactly as forecast. It is peaking in intensity this morning as a cat 3 and will weaken in the few hours before landfall. Prepare for category 2 impacts. This has been forecasted the last few days. This is not “the worst case scenario”. This is going as expected.
