I just rewrote my Best Guitar Apps post from scratch. First version went up in 2017. Nine years is forever in app years, so I started over: tried 50+ apps, kept the ones I actually reach for every day
Big issue of the newsletter goes out tomorrow. Plus, my review of seeing Molly Tuttle, awesome guitar links and more. Https://chasingsound.substac…

A few that stood out this time around: Solo for fretboard visualization, Quartet for backing tracks with real musicians instead of MIDI, and TrueFire for being my favorite place to learn from the best guitar teachers
Full breakdown here: chasingsound.com/posts/the-b… It's a living post now, I'll keep updating it as apps change. If you're a dev with something that belongs on it, please reach out!
Finally redesigned chasingsound.com after letting it sit for too long. Been heads down on the newsletter and the site suffered a bit. Happy with how it turned out. Go take a look and let me know what you think.
New issue of Six String Sunday is out! 🎸
After nearly a decade and hundreds of Sundays, I’m opening paid memberships for direct access - priority questions, email help, personalized feedback on your playing/mixes.
Let’s work together directly.

Been working on the solo for Collective Soul's "Shine". Got everything down except that first fast part early in the solo. What are you working on? #GuitarTwitterX #GuitarCommunity
Last day of 2025!
Thanks for hanging with me every Sunday this year. Means a ton.
Your replies are my favorite part. If I helped one person play more guitar or get excited about music, that’s a win.
2026 is gonna be incredible for guitar players.
See you Sunday! 🎸
The rumors were true! Check out my first look of the new John Mayer plugin, where I break down every piece of gear inside it. Up now on YouTube!
Picked up the Neural John Mayer plugin this morning and played some of the presets during lunch. Doing a video later tonight!
Had an absolute blast bringing back the livestream today. We talked about Ross Campbell's new course, the Quartet apps, Marcel Ardans' new Billy Strings book, Tom Quayle's new Metric Flow app and a lot more

It still gets me excited to find a guitarist who surprises me. Who’s someone that’s been lighting you up lately?
RIP to Ozzy. Not only for all of your amazingness in Black Sabbath, but for giving us such great guitarists with your solo career. The music world will never be the same.
Doing a giveaway for Rob Scallon's new guitar video game, Fretless. Playing this game has been a blast - I love all the fun guitar elements in it - great sound design, collecting pedals, riffs, etc. It's a lot of fun. Picking a winner this Saturday! kingsumo.com/g/m88266m/win-a…
