You think this is about gate keeping? This is about creative mindset. You do not see artists recreating the Mona Lisa and calling it a happy accident. While similar ideas DO HAPPEN, the same groups seem to continue to have the same ideas as previous winners and popular shots of the past. That's called a pattern, not an accident. Me pointing that out is called "pattern recognition". You being offended by that, especially to this extremity only further proves my points and validates what I speak of. So much so to that you have even paraphrased "there are no rules against it"in order to defend those behaviors.
Now you can say it is not art, and I can agree, but the titles quite literally have "Artist" in their name, and it's based on a creative mindset. So that argument is debatable.
On the subject of "gatekeeping". Because I currently am not playing Sot, I should not have an opinion? So people's opinions should be gatekept based on when the last date they logged on to the game? Your immaturity is showing young one. Maybe I should say "since you don't have as many hours in the game as me, you should not have an opinion." Ridiculous sounding, isn't it? Maybe the ones you think are "dumb" aren't the actual "dumb" ones. There is this saying about 2 ears, 2 eyes, 1 mouth I think you need to look up, because you seem to talk an awful lot.

Like copying is the real problem here LOL Not the fact that the judges are public and that a lot of ‘dedicated members just trying to take good photos without copying’ become friends with them and somehow suddenly those same individuals get 10+ wins within just a few contests lol
You still upset about not being able to just copy other #sotshots and get away with, huh? The mention about wins shows your focus point once again. You only care about wins.

I don't really like getting into drama but here what I got to say about the whole #Sotshot drama. I feel like people take this contest way to serious most of the people that are crying about it is the people that have 10 wins. at the end of the day it's pirate game. #SeaOfThieves
Damn, this #sotshot copying thing is a real epidemic huh? They hide behind the "there is no rule against it" and "people have the same ideas" quotes as well as the "I didn't see that shot" while later their dms are exposed of them thinking they have more SoT Clout than the original so it's fine. Can @SeaOfThieves just start making note of these people and groups who copy and steal? The community has plenty enough issues as it is already.
BTW, attached is the original SotShot (from 3 weeks ago), and I hope the original creator reposts this shot and it rightfully wins over the copy this time if the judges find it fits the theme.
