This hacker news thread is absolutely heart-breaking.
Whoever thinks “humans will find a way” ought I read it.
“the amount of thought and polish that is needed to create something amazing hasn't changed at all.”
Uh, it absolutely has and can we stop pretending it hasn’t?
As most of you, I live in my coding agent interfaces now.
I achieve at least 10x the output of what I could've done coding myself and I love this.
I work on ideas I wouldn't have dared to work on just a year ago.
Write code in languages I am not familiar with and still feel good about the results.
And despite all of this, the amount of thought and polish that is needed to create something amazing hasn't changed at all.

A few months ago I started building a personal finance tool because I couldn't get a straight answer to one question: at the rate I'm going, when can I actually stop working?
Every app showed me charts. None of them answered the question.
So I built Reign 🧵

The end of flow state
You wake up, excited for the day to start.
You have a feature idea you are looking forward to implement.
You make your coffee. Sit in front of the laptop. Put on that techno set you love.
The house is empty for the next 8 hours. No one can interrupt you.
You open your IDE and begin typing.
Soon, hours pass in minutes.
Everything makes sense.
And before you know it, it’s the end of the day.
You’re looking at today’s work and are content.
You’re energised.
Because you created something you enjoy.
Fast forward.
No more.
You start a new day with an open IDE.
But, instead of pressing those keyboard buttons, you’re staring at a orange text.
“Discombulating”
“Wombanizing”
Minutes feels like hours.
Nothing makes sense.
And before you know it, it’s the end of the day.
You’re tired. Your brain hurts.
It feels like you just finished a ton of meetings.
But, at least you shipped 1,000 lines of code, right?
You should be proud.
But, the only thing you feel is hollow.
Did you create? Or did someone else?
That magical feeling from years ago, where did it go?
Rest in peace, flow state.
You were dear to me.
Community Notes on X was the worst thing to happen to Democrats. AOC knows there hasn't been 10 lynchings, but she'll continue to peddle that lie.
This year, there have already been 10 reported hangings of Black people in the U.S.
I’m proud to have signed onto @RepPressley ‘s letter to address these widespread modern-day lynchings and put a stop to this racial terror.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While the letter cites 10 hanging cases in 2026, local law enforcement and medical examiners have ruled the majority as suicides, including the cases of Juliana Nzita and Kyle Bassinga. Only one case is currently being investigated as a homicide. charlotteobserver.com/news/local/art… people.com/death-of-black…
I need Astra or Sol but slower mode... Let me put this thang down to half-speed and drain my usage half as fast.
First thing I do in the morning is go to Codex, choose the quickest, lightest reasoning model, type "f", just so I can start my 5-hour usage window.
Haven't run another prompt, and it's magically just dropped another 3%, from doing absolutely nothing.
@OpenAIDevs
I typed "f" into Codex on 5.4 mini (light). It automatically switched to 5.6 Luna. I immediately stopped it. It used 5% of my 5 hour usage 🫠
This is a joke @thsottiaux

You can't even plan for when you might hit the 5 hour limit for @ChatGPT Codex. It's absolutely brutal that a task just gets cut off. I think I made a mistake trusting on @thsottiaux when all we had to worry about was the weekly usage limit.
