Latin America is entering a new era of #HIV treatment choice, but innovation alone is not enough. Closing our MPP-@pahowho-@UNITAID #AIDS2026 session, Lobna Gaayeb (@Lobnacting ), MPP, highlighted three priorities for turning WHO recommendations into impact: availability, awareness and health system readiness. “Innovation without access is not innovation for the people who need it most.” From TLD to DTG/3TC, TAF-based regimens and future long-acting options, the goal is clear: the right regimen for the right person at the right time.

The next generation of HIV treatment is already within reach. At #AIDS2026, Sébastien Morin of @MedsPatentPool highlighted how voluntary licensing has already helped expand access to affordable HIV medicines in 125 countries and reach 24 million people with generic TLD. Now, attention is turning to TAF-based regimens, DTG/3TC dual therapy and future long-acting injectable options. “Access does not happen automatically.
