Grazing cover crops that was planted after spelt harvest. Not a lot of volume due to lack of 🌧️ but cows will be happy for a few days .

If you want to change the rural landscape, there’s only one law you have to change. Require every bushel to be hauled off the field with gravity wagons. That’s it.
Keep the bushels local. Smaller elevators closer together. More feed mills. Walk it off the farm.
What do we gain exporting our bushels at a global discount just to truck in global fertilizer at a premium? Manure for fertility, close the loop.
Make gravity wagons great again
Last field of organic spelt for the year. Very consistent, well yielding in every field. Lots of straw for the pack barns this winter.
Organic peas. Close to harvest? Still soft to bite into. First time growing them straight without oats and barley.
#onag @israel_brett @tekmacrogersco1 @calhorst5 or and other croppas out there.
Think I can direct cut at least.
Canada Day corn. Up to someone’s knees. Could have used the rain everyone else got last night but doing well for later planting date.
Close to 600 through the wrapper by tomorrow. Dairy first cut will be done and a good start on heifer/beef balage. Spelt growing thick in the background.
Very cool story…

How can we 10x the revenue per acre in the corn belt?
What if the product was sold and consumed locally?
We're sharpening our pencils trying to make farming profitable... If we spend $990 /acre to make $10
Where does the $ spent on inputs go?
Sure cash rent stays to the landowners but what about
Seed $'s ?
Fertilizer $'s?
Chemical$'s
Equipment$'s?
What if corn was just looped right back into the mono gastric livestock
Each acre produced 8 fat hogs
200 chickens
4 lamb and walked off the acre and too the local abattoir
And to the local grocery store
This may not be your exact cup of tea. It may not exactly be the solution... but it is close.
We need someone like @RepThomasMassie to slash the red tape to make local food trade a reality again.

This view is about to change. All good things must come to an end.

And yes a load of first cut hay
I would go as far to say that on farm storage is a must with organic crop farming….we need more.
Great crop of #spelt coming off today
We take a quick break from this fantastic hay drying year 🤨to do some 2nd cut alfalfa balage today. Discbine, rake, baler and wrapper all going on here on this hot but nice Sunday.
Am I the only one @Pykeview @LanceGibson10 @MacLeanFarms #Onag wondering when @JimBenn71220505 is going to post a big smiley video of rolling coal in the 4450?

4-5 days to do ~700 1st cut high moisture bales for dairy and beef herd. 4+ weeks to do the same in dry ffs. But if it’s a easy year it’s probably a drought year
Someday I’ll step into the #einbock world, but until then the old Case cultivator will have to do.
