Africa still has no permanent seat on the Security Council.
A 21st century Security Council without permanent African representation is unjust & indefensible.
We must reform the Council so that it reflects today’s world with the legitimacy and effectiveness that today’s challenges demand.
Great to be back in Botswana 🇧🇼 for a short spell as Chargé d’Affaires. I say “back” as I was posted here 1987-1991. The change in 34 years is incredible - a really vibrant city with a whole new CBD.
Lots of nostalgia and happy memories. Pula!

It has been a huge honour and privilege, but also SO much fun working with @UKinNamibia - by some margin the best team I have worked with in 43 years of diplomatic service. Thank you!

What was it about the photo of the big, old wrinkled beast in Africa, that appealed to you, Charles….. 🤭. You’ve been an amazing British High Commissioner and served our country well. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
So here we are. 17 April, and time to leave the Land of the Brave.
Just one today - my favourite photo from the last four years.
