Our team’s latest study, published in Science Advances, reveals a surprising new role for EXECUTER1 (EX1), a protein known for sensing harmful singlet oxygen in plants.

These findings suggest that EX1 has “dual functions”: in the light, it mainly controls stress-related genes, while in the dark, it shifts gears to regulate growth-related genes.
TOC33 mediates 1O2-EX1 signaling from the chloroplast to the nucleus.
Our coordinated work with Prof. Liangsheng Wang’s group has been accepted in Molecular Plant!! Congratulations!!

My outstanding PhD student, Jingzhi, has successfully passed the PhD defense. Congratulations, Dr. Jingzhi Zhang! 🎉
We are delighted to announce the publication of our manuscript " Temperature-driven changes in membrane fluidity differentially impact FILAMENTATION TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE H2-mediated photosystem II repair" as a Breakthrough Report in The Plant Cell.

One immediate next step is to explore how these membrane dynamics might impact chloroplast-to-nucleus signaling, as there are intriguing hints that membrane fluidity could modulate retrograde signaling.
