Most people consider themselves capable of separating emotion from reason, but the way they respond to disagreement suggests otherwise. If it can't be helped, maybe we should lean into it somehow, and promote the self-awareness to say "I don't think I can discuss this right now."

I wish the discourse would evolve instead of continuously beating the same dead horses. Even if I like what you have to say about something, there's still only so many times you can say it before I get awfully bored.
Overconfidence will be the death of social conservatism. The old guard will continue to get in its own way, while those of us with a revived and revised approach can't match the numbers and emotional intensity of social progressives. Something needs to shatter the complacency.
