During our pilot school think-aloud interviews, we engaged students in discussions about science and their overall learning experiences. These conversations highlighted the importance of listening to students' perspectives - they have so much wisdom to share! #ScienceEducation
We recently had the opportunity to conduct another round of think-aloud interviews with some amazing students from the schools piloting our new science assessments. Read the quotes below to hear how students reacted to using feedback in their science assessment!
Our director of science assessment, TJ Heck, recently sat on a panel at @NARSTorg 's Annual International Conference with other scholars to provide advice to early career scholars and discuss our new science assessments with others in the science education space!
We explored the local context of the pilot school we visited to explore some of the ways students might make sense of their surroundings with science. Comment below if you know the answer to these questions!

We were lucky enough to get a chance to speak with students again at our pilot school visit to do think alouds and get their thoughts on our new Interim Science Assessments. We are always happy to hear that our assessments make students think in new and challenging ways! 💡🚀✨
Thank you for following along on our journey with our science interim assessment pilot schools. Next stop, diving into the data. Stay tuned for more about our science interim assessment pilots!

During our time at our pilot schools, we sat down with teachers to understand their needs in the science classroom and get feedback on our assessment. Here are just a few of the wonderful insights we got from these interactions!
We want to see if you could do as well as our pilot school students in making sense of the phenomenon in the following question:
Could crushed rock help make Earth’s temperature more stable?
Comment below how you might investigate this phenomenon!
We spent time with students during our recent pilot school visit and had them think aloud while taking our new science assessment. Dive into a few of the quotes we compiled to see some of the valuable insights we got from these amazing science learners!
