Today we marked 97 years since women won the vote on equal terms with men with a commemorative photocall of women MP. Each MP received a personalised sash by @RemakeNewport, marking their place in the history of #WomenInParliament.
We welcome the Modernisation Committee’s report calling for accessibility to become a major priority for the House of Commons.
We were pleased to submit evidence to the inquiry & look forward to engaging with the detail of the recommendations in the weeks ahead.

We welcome the Modernisation Committee’s report on making Parliament accessible to disabled MPs, staff, and visitors. Democracy must be accessible to all.
We stand ready to support improvements recommended in the report, which you can read here: committees.parliament.uk/com…

We welcome the fact that the Modernisation Committee has stated that accessibility must be a priority for the House of Commons.
We have argued this point through our research, from our ‘Breaking Down Barriers’ report, to our current work monitoring the number of disabled MPs.
We look forward to working with the committee to see where we can support their aims.

Great to join @Shoutout_UK & @RoehamptonUni event sharing the powerful findings of the @GEpic_UK project. The programme is proven to improve girls confidence in political engagement & build their speaking skills & confidence in making their voices heard.
APPG Women in Parliament Co-Chair @mimsdavies wanted young women to know what a great job being an MP is. Confidence is key and the @GEpic_UK programme helps to build this.
'If we can do it so can you' was @CHazelgroveMP 's message to the young women attending. @KirstySNP summed up “Politics makes decisions that affect your life. You can have it done to you—or you can learn about it and influence it.”

For the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, our Respectful Politics Policy Manager has reflected on the importance of addressing digital abuse in politics.

ALT Graphic with quote as follows: “It’s part of the job” says yet another woman politician on her experiences of receiving digital abuse – from sexist slurs to ‘deep fakes’ to rape and death threats. ... “It shouldn't be part of the job” is also what many women tell me when they share their experiences of abuse. We believe that we can change political institutions to address abuse and strengthen democracy. And we are not alone. This Parliament may be the most representative Parliament we have ever had, but there is still room for progress.
Today is #AskHerToStand Day, encouraging women to get into politics and lead!
When leadership comes from every background, our politics becomes stronger, fairer, and more reflective of the people it represents.
She’s a leader. She just might not know it yet...
Look around you... Do you know a woman who speaks up, shows up, and steps in when things need fixing?
Maybe she’s never thought about politics. But you have thought about her.
Tell her it’s time. #AskHerToStand.
