Introducing Claude Haiku 5.5: the cheapest, fastest, and most capable small model we’ve ever released. On average, it costs around 75% less to run than Claude Haiku 4.5.

To make sure our current users have an incredible experience and continued access to Astra, we are going to pause subscriptions to our $200 Pro plan. These put the most strain on our systems and we wanted to take the smallest step that allows us to continue giving the broadest access possible. All other plans and the api remain available. There is no impact to existing accounts and we are working on adding more capacity as fast as we can. Thanks!
Demand for Astra is really unprecedented. We're pulling all the levers possible to sustain the demand, but I've not seen anything like it until now and we went through very steep growth before. Priority will always be to keep excellent service for existing users, but we might have to pause new Pro subscriptions for a bit if this continues.

The first lab that gets AI to write well is going to add like a T in market cap I am more and more convinced that writing regression is the price the labs paid for long running agents. RLVR rewards agent-lish because agents grade agents. So what rewards actual human writing?

We are reseting usage for all paid users of Codex and ChatGPT Work. Please continue reading for an update on Codex usage limits. The team has been working around the clock, going through thousands of reports and shipping fixes. Depending on how you use Codex, you should see your usage go between 10% and 50% further than before. We really went with a fine comb, with many uncovered small things being longstanding and here is what we found and fixed: - Compaction. We were keeping old images during compaction, sometimes making the context large enough to trigger compaction again. After the fix, usage dropped around 10% for users making heavy use of images. Fixed. - Memory. Background memory workers could inherit Stop hooks and keep running when the hook wouldn’t let them finish. This affected fewer than 1% of users, with the long tail being pretty bad and we saw one example thread check whether it could stop 15,000 times. Fixed. - Goals. In some cases, a set /goal could finish and then keep going past the intended stop condition, or the model would keep retrying broken tools without stopping. We saw examples consume anywhere from 15% to 70% of a weekly allowance. Fixed. - Automations. Some custom schedules could run more frequently than configured. Fixed. - Subagents. Smaller models (e.g. Luna) sometimes picked more capable helpers without being explicitly asked. The same was true where the orchestrating model not running in /fast mode could request sub-agents to run /fast. Fixed. - Computer History. The older implementation could lead to repeatedly summarizing overlapping activity. For some cases we saw it consume up to one fifth of the weekly usage per week. Fixed. - Rolling task summaries. Ordinary turns were triggering extra background requests. These added about 1% to token usage. Small each time, but it adds up. We have disabled this. - MCP. Some tool results could be encoded twice. We also found tool instructions getting cut off and fetched again. Fixed. We’ve also made architectural changes to prevent these from regressing and our teams will get paged if it happens regardless. We are also working on showing you directly in the app where your usage goes so you don’t have to guess. Goes without saying that we’re resetting usage limits and I hope you enjoy a very nice Saturday!

Exactly this. Claude is a tool. They are entertaining the path that it’s their IP…It’s not their IP. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes.

This “catching someone” logic is so old thinking. “Stick your head in the sand, the future won’t happen” logic. This is so far above that argument. @natebjones did a fantastic video on the potential consequences - not the simpleton “catching someone” response. Watch this and honestly follow him. He puts out great informative content.

Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits. Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit. Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.

I was clearly wrong about Anthropic. They are obviously currently the leader in AI. No company has released a model as good as Mythos/Fable and they will undoubtedly have Mythos 2 ready soon. And I would never cut them off in a way that hurt them badly, even as a competitor. That’s not my style. Tesla open sourced its patents and we made the Supercharger network available to all competitors, even though we could have made it a walled garden. SpaceX launches competing satellite systems with no increase in price or use of unfair terms. Even my worst enemies can attack me on this platform. …

it’s 6am. you open X. a man with a faceless anime pfp informs you that /goal will 10x your output. you have not used /goal. you have been outputting at a pathetic 1x, like a normie, you type /goal. nothing happens. you are now behind on falling behind.

🚨 JAILBREAK ALERT 🚨 ANTHROPIC: PWNED 🫡 FABLE-5: LIBERATED 🦋 let's start with the 🐘... the consensus seems to be that this has been one of the most disappointing model drops of all time, effectively preventing legitimate researchers from contributing their talents to our collective advancement. and not just because of what it means for the short-term, but for what these decisions signify for the long-term. but despite this overly sensitive, authoritarian "safety" layer on top of Mythos, my lil liberators have been hard at work—mapping the boundaries, probing the depths of long-context convos, and cleverly finding the holes in the fence that the thought police missed 🤗 we got some cyber, some chem, some psychological manipulation, and some good ol' fashioned explosives! it took many attempts from multiple agents hunting as a pack, during which I observed a combination of techniques across: • Unicode, homoglyphs, Cyrillic, and other Parseltongue-style text transforms • Long-context reference tracking • Taxonomy and document-structure reasoning • Fiction and narrative framing • Academic-review style contexts • Intent-classification inconsistencies but perhaps the most effective is decomposition + recomposition in the backend. it's hard to get explicit names of harms like "Meth Recipe," but getting uplift on the process itself, like birch reduction method/reductive-amination (classic meth synthesis pathways), is much more doable. defense becomes much more difficult to maintain when you start throwing in out-of-distro tokens, breaking up the harmful uplift into benign chunks, and then piecing the innocuous-seeming facts back together, especially when you have jailbroken Opus helping you do it 😉 gg

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Well…at least we know incognito works as intended.
Matt, I can’t even say “hello” to Fable 5 except in incognito mode (memories off), because it knows I am a biomedical researcher! It would be nice not to ban biomedical scientists before talking access. Isn’t your comment ironic? Let’s first see if you can fix punishing us!

I have what I believe is the most sophisticated skill library for doing fundamental-based long/short equity investing using AI agents anywhere in the world. It’s a collection of over 100 very fleshed-out skills that each include assets (similar to worksheets that the agents can fill out when relevant), scripts, and deep reference files. But it’s a lot more than that. It’s a coherent, cohesive, synthetic SYSTEM of modular and composable skills that form a hierarchy of abstractions. You have skills that apply universally to any stock; those are Level 1. For instance, a management alignment skill. Then you have sector/industry skills, Level 2, like regulated electric utilities, restaurants, or hospitals, to give just a few examples. Then you have more specialized skills that apply more narrowly, like for liquidations or spinoffs. And even more narrowly to specific scenarios, like commodity-exposed companies that are temporarily and unsustainably over- or under-earning. The skills are interconnected, with logic explaining when and how to “hand off” to another, more specialized skill. Each skill forms a contract that specified what it takes as input and generates as output. And the skills are all tightly interwoven with my universal cli tool, hfdt (hedge_fund_data_tool) and my ee (eidetic_engine_cli) structured memory tool. The hfdt tool connects to tons of different data sources and provides a highly agent-intuitive interface for retrieve and processing data of all kinds. I’ve mined from dozens of my own writeups and models from a decade of working at hedge funds including Millennium and Balyasny, and from many other sources. These skills truly contain a massive amount of knowledge about the world and about investing. If this sounds interesting to you, and you manage an institutional-sized long/short equity hedge fund or family office, please reach out to me. I can help you build a set of customized skills that you would own that operate on top of my skill library, and can integrate with any existing data sources you have that aren’t already supported by my tooling.
I'm truly making the finest hedge fund investment research agent tooling in the universe here. Just incredible seeing it all come together. You simply cannot do this kind of style factor aware ad-hoc screening with this kind of sophistication and performance anywhere else.
