Personal news! Many of you know from my time as a freelancer, and starting next week I’ll be moving back to freelancing!
It's not uncommon for projects of mine to spiral out of control, but this one could be the biggest yet. I started building a database of phone testing data that I was collecting for reviews. After months of building, this is what that's turned in to. bandicootlab.com
I have a few favorite features. For starters, I have a chart builder that uses my data and can be embedded on your website. bandicootlab.com/chart-build…
I have a Find Your Phone feature. This is where you can basically bypass my subjective score weightings and build your own. There's a basic mode, which lets you choose weightings of parent scores. And there's an Advanced Mode that includes sub-scores! bandicootlab.com/find-your-p…
Had a lot of fun trying out different vibe-coding skills and giving making stuff without much coding experience a shot. Definitely see it as the future for 99% of software development.

I don’t know how to combat this except to get off @Cision database which I’m working on. I’m a tech reporter. I don’t know who changed my Cision profile to say that I cover general “retailing,” but I don’t. Tech pitches only please.
Hey folks! Looking to pick up some extra #freelance work over the next few months. I’m an expert in all areas of consumer tech. Let me know if you’re looking for a writer, or have any leads!

Leaks and rumors from @oneplus and @madebygoogle, cool new phones, hot earbuds from @Sony, and crazy #EVs... Listen to @CdeLooper and me on episode 334 of my #MobTechCast to hear about these topics and more! And don't forget to share and subscribe :) worldpodcasts.com/oneplus-op…
I’m in Threads and while it’s not perfect I’ll likely be posting more there than here. Follow me, if you dare.

A reminder to companies to please not send unsolicited stuff to my house. Or, to my old house, where I no longer live.
Initial Google Pixel Fold reactions:
- I love the passport-style foldable from-factor
- There are some software tweaks that I don’t love. I wish the Home Screen just spread out the app icons instead of using two screens worth.
- Build feels MOSTLY strong.
Very curious to see how and if #InstagramThreads ends up becoming the defacto Twitter replacement. No mention of #ActivityPub in the listing, who knows if that rumor will turn out to be true.
