It was an absolute joy and privilege to work on these graphics commemorating the centennial of @ACLU_SoCal!
This year, the ACLU SoCal is celebrating 100 years of history, movement building, and courageous action from Southern Californians fighting for their rights: to dance freely, to teach the truth, to vote.

On this #MLKDay, I want to share a few images of the breathtaking 20-foot-tall monument that was unveiled on Friday in Boston Common, the nation’s oldest public park. It honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. addresses crowds gathered to rally for southern desegregation at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena on June 18, 1961. The ACLU SoCal proudly co-sponsored the event.
On #MLKDay and in our centennial year, we honor and commit to his legacy.
I'm a proud supporter of @ACLU_SoCal! Every year, their Bill of Rights Awards event shifts the conversation on civil rights and civil liberties and challenges the status quo.

14 million students are in schools with police but no counselor, nurse, psychologist, or social worker.
Our children deserve to be supported, not criminalized. Police do not belong in our schools.
Here's our piece from last night about police in schools and why instead of asking for more of them, we may actually need to think about getting rid of them altogether...youtube.com/watch?v=KgwqQGvY…

The FBI wiretapped Martin Luther King, Jr. and urged him to commit suicide.
Today, they label Black activists as “Black Identity Extremists.”
Surveilling activists was wrong in the past and has no place in our present.

ALT Red background with what looks like a stack of old papers with a black and white photo of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. paper clipped to the top of the stack of papers. Above the photo is typed: "Never forget: America's champion for nonviolent civil disobedience was wiretapped and urged to commit suicide by the FBI." On the photo of Dr. MLK, Jr. is what looks like a piece of ripper papre with "MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. Civil Rights Activist" typed on it in black.
